    L-Arginine before sleep, or in the middle of the night?

    Hey guys. I've been lifting for about a year now. My favorite part about lifting and building mass is the knowledge I gain on how to excel as I continue to bulk. I have been reading a lot of articles and I am in a scramble here. I just wanted some other hands on opinions from you guys. I do know everyones body reacts different but I guess its still a overall general question I am struggling with.

    I just bought L-Arginine in a 2lbs bulk.
    50% of the articles say to have it before I go to sleep. I take a Casein protein typically before sleep though so I wasn't sure if I should just stack it right in with that because it works best on an empty stomach...
    The other ones I seem to read say to wake up in the middle of the night (preferably 2-3 hours before really waking up) and take it then. I didn't think that was as good either because it disrupts REM sleep and thats where most growth and GH occurs to my knowledge.

    From my reading of the supplement I think it is better used before and after a workout

    But also I would take L-Arginine Alpha Ketoglutarate...

    about half way down the page the guy talks about AKG......he is not to impressed w/ the supplement, nor does he think it is worth it......

    I was once taking.. AAKG 5g before work out, then AEE/OEE before bed.

    ive read 5-10g arg. and 5g gluatmine before bed increases nat. GH during sleep...ive been doing it 30 min before my casein shake before bed every night

    Well.. Interesting readings and studies. Thank you so far guys. I appreciate this. ..is it just me or does the pure L-Arginine Powder taste like the most foul thing on the face of this planet? Ha.

    One last note on aginine, if you were not aware.

    First time taking arginine, i made the mistake of intaking about 8 grams spread throughout the day. Long story short, I was sick (vomiting, diahrea etc.) the following day for almost 16 hours. So care should probably be taken upping the 'dose'.

    I have once read that L-arginine and L-lyseine taken together work to boost GH. Sometimes I take it before bed. They are competing aminos but the combo seems to boost GH from some articles I have seen, however, I can't confirm if they where credible.

    yeah theres a product by ultimate nutrition its like arginine ornithine and lysine and promotes gh when u sleep and ur ment too wake up pumped haha
    u can also try zmas before bed there really good for getting more recovery out of your sleep and builds muscle

    I was doing the same. In addition to Pre-Workout I would mix Arginine/Ornithine (1:1 or 2:1 ratio) and consume before bed. I would also mix Glutamine and GABA and noticed improved recovery the next day. I did experiment before bed or middle of sleep (i.e. when I get up in the middle of the night) but I did not notice any difference so I would just take it before bed for convenience.
