Fake. Common sense should tell you it is.

There may be a few pressure points that can be struck that can really hurt you, but hitting them while someone is moving around/punching you back is going to be next to impossible.

If DM were real you'd see it used

Exactly. Its hilarious that people in this section actually buy into the BS.

Whats even funnier is some Dim Mak "master" gets his ass handed to him by a kid who's been training for like 2 years and all of the 'masters' students are just speechless.

Yes it works if you can land it but no one is going to stand there and let you do it.

After reviewing all the material on the web, I'd say it's real. It can be used as a death touch, stopping the electromagetic flow of the human body. A couple well known spots are: behind the jaw, sides of the throat, and an area near the heart. Masters break it down much like an acupuncturist does, with over 30 spots named C3, D5, and the like.

Non contact dim mak is a little hard to believe. It has been shown to cause jumps in vital signs, but is it the dim mak, or the anticipation of the dim mak brought to release by a master suddenly yelling in attack? Too close to say. There is a vid of a local news reporter that did a story on a dim mak master and after witnessing a number of his students fall in apparent concussion, the news reporter asked to be dim mak'ed herself. The master, after much peacocking, refused to do it to her based on the fact that he felt she was not in the right state of mind to receive it. Then he suddenly busted a dim mak on her neck, to which she yelled "Ouch! All you did was hit me!" Pretty funny, and at the same time very telling.

Does the dim mak work? Are all those students of the reported masters idiots? They probably were attacked successfully and have since tried to learn the art. Does the dim mak work everytime? I feel that every human body is built differently, and to find these points on individuals of differing sizes is the hard part, and most of the reason why it is difficult to replicat on a newbie.

I conclude that the dim mak is the evil counterpart to the well established acupressure.

Can you hit someone in a vital point (throat, heart compression, etc.) and damage them? Yes. Does it cause damage by "stopping the chi flow"? No.

I can knock a guy out with a forearm strike to the side of the neck, that doesn't make me a Dim Mak practitioner. It's not some fancy pressure point 'chi' bull****, it's the carotid artery.

I am defining a properly flowing life force as consciousness. And chi as pertaining to one's life force. Taking these terms, a blow that would take off someone's head can be thought of as critically disrupting their chi. Further, a blow to the jaw, a blow to the heart, and a pressure hold to the throat all cause unconsciousness which can be seen as a disruption of one's chi. This was the point I was trying to make when talking about "well known" spots. What dim mak practitioners claim is that there are other lesser known spots that disrupt one's chi, ie. cause unconsciousness, and can even cause death. This is the claim I want peoples opinions of, and this is where the grey area lies.

You bring up a good point as to what life force really means. Is it the flow of blood through the body, or an invisible component that is vital to a healthy human being? Could dim mak practitioners actually be hitting clusters of nerves which cause certain muscles to spasm uncontrollably, in turn blocking the blood flow of major arteries? The end result would be an unconscious/dead person. An answer to this question could be found if noncontact dim mak's can be found to be legit. If they are, there is definitely a nonphysical chi force component to our lives, if they are found to be bunk, it would only strengthen the argument that what dim mak practioners refer to as chi actually refers to a physical system which is directly related to one's consciousness, ie. nervous system and blood flow.

Chi is a nebulous term that refers to the truly mystical phenomenon that is experiential life. Life is not a physical property. A certain collection of atoms does not make a living human. A particular arrangement of atoms in combination with a life force is what makes a living breathing human. Look at the human brain. By itself it is simply a collection of cells, the mind is an immaterial software program that rides on that collection of cells. You cannot see, hear, or touch a mind, yet it is as present as the brain it uses. Its this deep mystery that is at the heart of chi philosophy.

Yeah it's real...I used to know some stuff about it but I forgot. There are points all over your body and some are more serious than others...you have these meridian lines I think? I don't remember, but I do know that certain points are very dangerous.

hahaha i think the only way that type of dim mak would work is if the "master" trained you to go "unconcious" "sleep" "feel pain" etc.... his students are hypnotized to accept those ridiculous commands. it's just like living with someone and knowing how to drive them insane.

    No.

Is it possible that punches in certain area's (neck, particular parts of the chest) can kill? Definitely, every so often a kid will get hit in the chest with a baseball and die almost instantly, but this has more to do with timing in conjuction with their heart beat than anything an opponent can identify and measure. I have no doubt that at one point someone somewhere punched someone in the chest, killed them, and told everyone that he had the gift, however he couldn't do it again/learn to do it consistantly.

I think the master said something to the extend of "It only works on about 60% of the population."

You know, if i was training something for self confidence and knowing that if I was walking down the street and were to be attacked, that I could handle myself, I want to know my art will work on anyone. I could see it now, some guy is walking down the street. A mugger jumps out at him "Give me all your money." The guy starts to get ready for a "none touch, death touch"

    Mugger: What are you doing?
    Guy: Deathtouch?
    Mugger:... Its not working.
Guy: Hmm, I guess you are in the 40%...you got lucky this time.
