I'm wanting to buy a treadmill soon since I really can't stand my crappy elliptical. Made the mistake of buying a cheap one. Anyway, I was only wanting to spend $5-600 on one. It is possible to find a decent treadmill for this price that isn't a piece of crap? I want to be able to run on it and for it to be sturdy and not break down in a month. Any ideas?
If not which ones would you suggest that I might be able to make monthly payments on.
Thanks for the help.

in my experience getting what you pay for really holds true for exercise equipment. I think the good ones are over $2500 easy. Do you have small children or any reason you can just walk/jog outside. Exercising in nature is far easier and far more rewarding IMO.. you can jog stadiums at your local high school or even better go hiking with a weight pack.

If you have a used sporting good store, I'd check there first, especially if you can get a hold of a used commercial grade treadmill. They are built with better quality material for more frequent use, hence the higher costs. Everyone once in a while, you can find relatively lightly used one for a great price. But, I'm not sure $5-600 would fit the bill.

Well I bought one about 2.5 months ago on sale for $600, and I returned it a few days ago I just bought one costing $1600 on sale usually 2000 bucks and it is way better, stronger, bigger motor and alot sturdier. So you may get lucky if you find a good one on sale. I am not sure though, also I should mention I weigh 206 now but was around 220 with my old one, so since you weigh much less you may be able to get one that is cheaper, since you will not have the same weight running on it.
Also some places should be able to give you a lot of info on the different treadmills they have to offer, some are good for walking and light jogging and can be cheaper, but if you are running or if your husband is running on it or anyone with more weight like 200+ you may want a more expensive one.PreSurge = Pre WO.

Well that one looks ok,
The motor is 2.25HP which is a little lower than the one I have now but like I said you weight alot less, the belt looks like a good size 20x55
I am not sure about the adjustable cushioning though,
It says max user weight 300lbs so I think thats ok...lol
But in the end you need to try it out. TRY before you buy!!!
Because if you want them to ship it and set it up it may cost another 50-150bucks. If you set it up yourself which is fairly easy it can take a bit of time plus they are heavy
My cheap one weighed 160lbs, my new one weighed 260lbs and it is hard to move until it was put together. So you are not going to want to set it up put it together than find out you dont like it and need to take it back
Also check out the warranties, especially, Parts, Labour Motor. These are the big factors.
When you go to look at them, make sure they are set up so you can try them out. There are big differences between them, So wear track pants and running shoes. It may sound odd but if you go to where they are set up you can see how they are while walking and while running..Big difference.. Check to make sure it is stable.PreSurge = Pre WO.

RB12 = Bell-End.
Get a mini Trampoline for $50 or less, around $500 less than a running machine.
If running machine is the choice , go to places and try them - actually get on and try them, I know a great many that bought expensive exercise quip. without actually trying it first - just from spec. , page in a catalogue, etc.

I had a high end treadmill and lost it in a divorce. I miss it. It was a Vision 9100. $2000+. You really do get what you pay for with treadmills. Beefier motors, larger (longer ) belts, wider belts, better controls, etc. Don't buy junk or you'll buy twice.
Treadmills are great for winter running. I had over 600 miles on mine and I only used it in winter. Too hot indoors in summer. I highly recommend a good treadmill for cardio training.
I'll be replacing mine shortly.
