How much weight is it common to gain in the first 2 weeks after a competition? I dropped from my starting weight of 188lbs to 173 over about 2 months of cutting. Only 2 weeks after I stopped cutting I'm already back up to 188.

I'm really struggling with this....b/c I do not want to get too heavy this off season. I weighed 153 show day...approx. 2 wks ago...weighed 157.5 this morning....With that said, I've pretty much had to get right back on a diet....I got up over 160 pretty quickly....didn't like that and asked Layne to put me on a mini-cut to get me a little lower so that I can be smarter about transitioning into offseason.....I feel like my choice is to either continually diet or not look like a bodybuilder in the off season and have a ton of work to do when it comes to prep time...UGHHH
I have a HORRIBLE metabolism...Layne can attest to this. Not sure why!! Its like once I start eating a normal amount of carbs/cals the fat just packs right on...and it is very difficult to lose. I'm actually considering going to the doc to check my thyroid, or anything else that could cause me to have such a slow metabolism. For contest prep I had to go down to approx. 1300 cals on most days to lose the fat....Sorry to side track...anyone have any similar situation or advice....I might start a separate thread if I don't get responses...."Sell yourself short on nutrition and you're selling yourself short on maximizing your physique development." -Ernie Taylor

I took a lot of peoples past experiences of exploding with weight, and stuck to my diet the week after the show, with 2 days of going nuts. within that week, the total was a 8 lb increase, then I kept to diet calories tell the bloat and water subsided, and in total it was 4 lbs.
My show was on Sept 15th and I weighed 182, it's now November 8th, and I weigh 191. But I've been lean mass phasing it for the past 1.5 months. Either way, I saw about a 4 lb increase within the first 2 weeks. control is key, but it aint easy.'Lift till you see god"

Alot of the weight comes from your glycogen stores becoming refilled. I'm almost up 20 pounds from my contest on Oct. 13th. I've filled out a lot, but am also slowly but surely losing my abs. I am now eating twice the amount of calores I was at the end of my prep. I still have good cuts everywhere else though. It all depends on how you handle your carbs and like Joe said cardio. Soon I will be adding a couple of days of HIIT back in the mix to stave off some of this fat gain.
He who argues for his limitations gets to keep them.

man im exactly the same. for me to loose weight i have to praticaly starve myself. if i eat a normal amount of food or mabye have some treats here and there i add the pounds on soo quick. it sucks cause i wanna look halfway decent in the offseason but i just blow up like 40 pounds.
to the topic starter - i member i cut to 175ish and like 3 weeks later i was 190 something. it SUCKED.

I stepped on the scale yesterday and had lost weight. All I did was do a couple light cardio sessions and keep my calories in check. I think I bloated up a lot post contest but the workouts helped expel some of the water. I think most of what everyone is experiencing is water, so don't stress too much. I thought I was getting fat.

weighed in at 194lbs on Oct. 13th then my scale broke. Second and last show was the 20th and now I'm weighing about 198lbs. 4+ lbs in 20 days so far. Belly roll up about 1mm.

Night of my show on saturday I weighed 214 pounds, after the show I ate a box of cookies from the kroger bakery, half a whole cake and a entire large pizza hut stuffed crust meatlovers pizza. The next mourning I weighed 225lbs with no abs.
I ate half of this cake in like 2 hours lol
This pick was taken after a few sodas and a box of cookies from the bakery
If this s**t was easy everyone would do it.

I worked at a gym with this crazy little Asian girl that kept talking me into eating taco bell late at night and my assistant GM was all about burger king and their triple whoppers. Also a girl had a crush on our sales guy so she brought us a dozen doughnuts every night.... i felt like they were going to waste if i didn't eat at least 3 lol. Not to mention all the beer from all the parties I was going to. So to answer your question yes basically.
