How long can I keep ON 100% Whey after opening the bucket?

Does anybody know how long I can keep a bucket of whey after opening it without having it rot or something? I'm thinking of ordering some ON 100% Whey from bodybuilding.com as the prices are pretty low but due the transportation costs it only becomes profitable for me when I buy a 10lbs bucket.

So I calculated and if I take my usual 1 scoop a day (post workout) I can do 6 months with the bucket. So I was wondering, how long can you keep ON 100% whey after opening the bucket?

    Thanks in advance

    Need more protein

While whey protein powders will be fine for a long time, be sure to keep it in a cool, dark place. Whey proteins should not be exposed to prolonged sunlight and high temperatures. 6 months should be ok.

Plus, I think you should take more than 1 scoop per day. That's only approximately 24 grams of protein per scoop. Unless you're getting the rest of your protein from whole foods, you should be consuming a bit more protein. What are you trying to accomplish? Bulking, cutting, maintaining?

Ok thanks for your guy's time

I think I'm fine then as I keep my whey in a room with no light, dry and pretty cool. I'm taking only one scoop per day which is post workout, I'm gonna start bulking in a few weeks and I might be taking an additional scoop in the morning but I try to get most of my protein from whole foods as I hate whey

    Thanks again
