You might want to try doing deadlifts, deep bend squats and the parking lot lunges that Ronnie Coleman does. These three exercises are sure to improve the gluteals.

I forgot to mention that anything where I hold a bar squat style is out of the question (shoulder surgery)

I agree with Thudd, lunges and step ups using dumbbells combined with a leg press machine are probably the best options in your situation.

nothing works my glutes out more than 1 legged squats.

hold 2 db in hand, have one leg behind you on a bench balancing you. perform squat. takes alot of practice to get the balance right. i still almost fall over.

Just be very careful when doing that. I hurt my back doing that a few years ago. I've found that whenever your hips come off the pad, that is a bad thing. Make sure the pad is tilted so your hips stay on it.

Speaking off ass mass I have a huge blurter, it was made from deep squats, walking lunges and sprints with the power sled. When I got my bulging disc I had to cease all leg weights and still haven't really got back into them, anyway I copp heaps of **** about my big powerful ass so I was thinking at least this will shrink the beast a bit.............no chance it remained as large as ever and now looks even bigger because I have lost mass of my legs. Moral of the story is a big ass isn't the best wish in the world.

    Thanks for the responses.

True, powerful ass is not the best idea, but when your income is based off your body then its necessary.

Mate I hear you there. I find standing in tackles heaps easier with the big bucket arse and it does generate alot of power when sprinting. Walking Lunges are the way to go, load it up and stride it out.
