Cottage Cheese and Peanut Butter...surprisingly good
Well I finally tried cottage cheese mixed with peanut butter. It sounded really gross to me at first but when I actually tried it I was surprise that it's actually quite tasty. It's my new before bed snack =)

Man the lengths people will go to avoid eating CC straight up. Try different brands of CC--The one I like the best is Nancy's Organic available at Whole Foods-The texture of this stuff is a lot firmer than other brands I've tried including Alta Dena, Borden(Texas Brand) I think most folks that don't like CC straight up mostly because of the texture of this stuff as it's goin down. They process Nancy's differently, and the taste of it takes a bit getting use to, but I like it because I can eat it like a machine when I new a protein fix, or B4 bed. `16oz-about 3.00

About how much cottage cheese/PB are people using prior to bed?
Maybe 1 Tbsp of PB (95 calories, 8g fat, 4g protein)?
And 3/4cup of CC? (23g protein, 150cals)?
That too little or too much?

I eat 1 cup of cottage cheese and 1 tbsp of natural peanut butter with a scoop of protein powder an hour before bed and it rocks.

Try cottage cheese and raw oats. I managed to eat 1/2 cup of it and probably wont ever do it again. I actually like cottage cheese just by itself, usually I'll mix some plain yogurt with it though.

1.5 cups CC + 2 tbsp PB. It's a lot I know but I can't resist the sweet concoction. It's evil.

Rasberries are awesome as well, imo better. But PB takes the prize for me. I add a small amount of pure cocoa as well.

WOW! I'm dying to try all the good recipes here! I read somewhere once in a mag that CC and natural PB is a great bedtime snack; but, I never really knew why it works...anyone know?
Thanks!

CC in oatmeal!
I used to put cottage cheese in my (hot, freshly cooked) oatmeal in the morning, then nuke it for 20-30 seconds just to bring it up to temperature but not melt the cheesy bits. Nice way to round out the carb/protein ratio, and the saltiness of the dairy works well with the oatmeal.... if you like your oatmeal not sweet, as I do. :-)

Also, the Peanut Butter is a good fat. The fats will slow down digestion of the casein protein in Cottage Cheese so your body can use it to build muscle all night long. Whereas with whey protein, it's digested way too fast to last 8 hours of sleep. This is why many folks consider CC and PB the ideal before bedtime snack.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who liked the combo. I Love cottage cheese by itself but I love it even more with peanut butter now. Oh and how can you have the will power to eat just one teaspoon of peanut butter? Heh I could eat the whole jar if I wanted to =). It's like eating one pringle...ain't gonna happen.

What about cottage cheese and 1/4 cup of peanuts? Not mixed though. Im not a fan of peanut butter so I prefer peanuts. The peanuts I eat have 14g fat, only 2 sat, 5g carbs, 1g being sugar, and 8g protein per 1/4 cup.
Is this ok as well to have as before bed meal?

Yeah, peanuts are the same as peanut butter (well, at least natural peanut butter), just ground up. Based on that nutrional info, 1/4cup of peanuts is roughly equivalent to about 2 tablespoons of peanut butter.

I put black truffle olive oil on my tuna and it makes it go down much easier. Truffle oil isnt that common but you can find it if you look hard enough.
Anyone eat crazy richards peanut butter?? soo good.

Yes it is awesome.
It's really good with Equal/Splenda and some ground Cinnamon.

i have tried to eat cottage cheese 7 times. tried all the flavors. i couldnt put a spoonful in my mouth.. it was so nasty.. maybe im cottage cheese intolerant? canned tuna is nasty but i can eat 8 oz of it, but i feel like if i ate 8 oz of CC it would kill me.
i just tried to eat it again but this time added peanut butter and splenda. i forced myself to swallow 2 spoonfuls and washed it down with water. i nearly puked.
what the hell will i do.. lock myself in a cellar for 1 week with only a tub of cottage cheese?
how do the alternatives (listed below) compare to CC + peanut butter?
egg whites (or another meat (does yogurt work?)) and peanut butter.. or caesin powder + water + peanut butter
