I can't afford to keep up with my diet : ( and i don't want to give up.
The protein is whats killing me. So maybe if i can find out some cheap source of protein other than eggs i might be able to lower the cost. I'm paying 90$ just in chicken, 35$ in eggs, and 40$ in 95%hamburger. Thats not including all the carbs oat meal, rice, and broccoli plus Water.
Any of you have a 40/40/20 split on 2800 cals in the price range of around 120$ for the month? PLZ post it!
thanks

Cheapest clean sources are:
Oatmeal for carbs, whole eggs and whey for protein, whole eggs and extra virgin olive oil for healthy fats.
Try 40/30/30. It's a little cheaper and your testosterone levels should benefit.History: Mar, 2001: 135lbs @ ~14% | Nov, 2004: 245lbs @ ~40% | Dec, 2006: 168lbs @ 5.5%ish | Nov, 2008: 177lbs @ 5.5%ish | Dec, 2016: 179lbs

I edited in a few changes...
hmmm...30 bucks a week
I'll give it a shot...this is interesting to me...so I don't mind
I usually spend 80 bucks a week, but always thought I could spend 30 bucks if I really tried
30 cups generic oatmeal(1 tub)....2 bucks
this will be your prime source of carbs for the week
1 pound of walnuts(generic brand)...4 bucks
this will be your prime source of EFA's
1 pounds of tuna(16 ounces) can be found for a dollar if you look hard
you need to buy it in cans...like three 6-ounce cans for a dollar
so dollar a pound and you eat 2 pounds of tuna a day....that 14 bucks
14
4
2
----
20 bucks so far
spend the other 10 bucks on a wide range of fruits(post workout carbs) and vegetables
get a generic multivitamin also
diet would be as follows:
4 cups of uncooked oatmeal a day(1200 calories)
2 pounds of tuna(800 calories)
1/2 cup walnuts(400 calories)
4 cups vegetables(120 calories)
3 fruits(300 calories)
------------------------------------------------
2820 calories...add some more oatmeal if you are bulking...add less oatmeal if you are cuttingLast edited by new2lifting; 11-18-2005 at 05:53 AM.

I see eggs sometimes for 50 cents a dozen...and a dozen egg whites has 48 grams of of protein....so for a dollar you can buy 100 grams of protein using egg whites
1 pounds of tuna has about 100 grams of protein
so tuna and egg whites are the same price per gram of protein
good luck
I might consider going this route sometime to save some cash

$120 a month? I could almost spend that in a week if I cook myself a good meal on the weekends.
Your best bet is to buy in bulk. Go to Sam's or Costco buy bulk meat and then repackage it when you get home. This probably saves me a good $50 a month. (Nearly $1 a pound on chicken alone.) There is also a Amish bulk market ~20 minutes away that I hit up once a month.
Otherwise, Chicken, Eggs, Canned Tuna and Beef are about the cheapest protein sources out there.

Oh yeah, and drop all supplements except for a multivitamin. If you're getting tuna and nuts that covers your omegas. All other supplements aren't nearly as important as good nutrition.
