Flax meal??
Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone had any experience from using flax meal? How do you eat it?
I was thinking of adding it to my egg whites in the morning. Has anyone tried that?

My understanding, and anyone correct me if Im wrong. But we cant absorb the oils and nutrients from flax unless it is ground first. I heard if you put it in a spice grinder you can ground it up nicely to put in whatever you like. I was thinking of doing this myself but havent gotten around to look for a spice grinder. I think after that you can just mix it in with your oatmeal, eggs or whatever.

I use Bob's Red Mill flax seeds. I grind them myself using a $10 coffee bean grinder. I buy whole flax seeds because sitting on a store shelf in a ground state can't be good for flax. After I grind a few days worth I store the rest of the whole seeds in the freezer and I store the flaxmeal in the fridge.
I use flaxmeal in pancakes, shakes, cottage cheese. in home baked goods, and yogurt. I use 1 - 2 tablespoons at a time.

I use the same brand of flax as above, but I do use the preground flax. I add it to my oatmeal, cold cereal, eggs, basically anything. I personally like the way it flavors plain oatmeal...

I buy cheap bulk flax seeds and grind them in my blender. I add them to my breakfast protein shake (milk + whey + flax), eggs, protein pancakes, and muffins.

Wow thanks guys for all your input.
I'm going to buy flax seeds and grind them in my blender. It's probably cheaper than buying them already grinded and fresher as well.

oh also try not to cook them as this reduces their value as well i read. just sprinkle on top of already cooked stuff or mix in with cold stuff liek yogurts or cottage cheese.

I buy the preground flax seed meal and use it in my morning oatmeal. I add in AFTER cooking the oatmeal..about 1 1/2 teaspoons.

I use the preground as well. While dieting I had it in my Protein Component every night with just a small amount of water added to make a pudding.

Just bought some flax seed and grinded them in my blender and now keep them in the fridge. Tried adding 2 tbsp to my eggwhites and found it filled me up more than eating egg whites alone.
Thanks for your advice guys.
