I know this exercise is a plus for most people, so I have tried it multiple times, yet everytime, my wrists seem awkward, like they are bending a way they shouldnt be, in since it is CLOSE it makes your wrists bend outward...any tips?

PROPER close-grip bench width is palms over elbows (~a bit before shoulder width).
any of this like 6'', thumbs touching, 2'' apart, etc.. etc.. is just ****ing uneducated bull****.
palms over elbows is, biomechanically, the best positioning, not to mention far better on your wrists.
