    Cable Curl VS Barbell Curl

Which would you say is better? I personally for the last six months have only used free weights. Yet a cable curl keeps the tension going the whole part of the concentric phase. So, which one would you go with?

i mean, that's like a given. it's like asking why squats are better for working legs and, say, leg extensions.

Grrr, show me a study. Second, Squats are better because they are a compound exercise that works nearly your whole body, unlike a leg estension.

okay then. show me a SOURCE that proves that close-grip benching is better for your triceps than kick-backs. Hmm, hmm, waiting

You arn't going to find such a thing. In the bbworld, some things just are and you don't go around and question them. It's like trying to re-invent the wheel.

But, you must question. Imagine if no one ever questioned Arnold traing five hours a day...

but those are 2 completely differnt issues almost.

When you start off training, 1st thing you do for biceps is bb curl. And you see you make gains with it, so you continue to do it until the end of time.

Then there's the arnold issue. A lot of people when they started(inc. me) fell into the 'quantity over quality, more is better approach'. After a while of training for 2+hrs,/day you see that you arn't making any gains, so you try something different.

With curls, you see that bb curls work well for the biceps so you keep on doing them. With training 5hrs/day, you see after a while you are making 0 gains, so you stop trianing like that. Understand?

No doubt barbell curls are good, it doesn't mean that cable curls aren't better. As you read in first post, I have always used free weights.

    Free weights reign supreme.

More muscle fibers are being recruited when using free weights.
