All the best
Today I came across a site that had men and women on it that are extremely muscular because they use steroids and the women all appeared to have lost almost all signs of femininity, except for the fake boobs which were the worse part. That type of bodybuilding is a perversion of the sport for both man and woman. I wish you ladies the best of luck here at Bodybuilding.com.

I can understand the appeal of steroids and find them fairly fascinating myself, but I've never taken them nor do I really plan to. I find the over-use/abuse of steroids in women(and men!) to be slightly disturbing... I'd rather have a symmetric muscular body than an unnaturally huge body. But that's just me. I understand where Taichichuan and you sy2502 are coming from.

Here's the way I see it: we all have our personal ideas, impressions, etc. But I also think we should have filters when expressing them, especially if they could be offensive to the other person. I think there's a big difference between me thinking in the privacy of my own mind that something is creepy, and walking up to a person and call him/her creepy. Women body builders work really frigging hard for their own personal goals. Why do some douche bags feel authorized to go up to them and tell them they look like crap? Really, don't they have anything better to do than insult other people who haven't hurt them the least? That's all I am saying.

I agree with sy here. What was the point of the original comment, what right do you have to make judgements on or try to tell others what they do with their bodies and how do you know they use steroids? Did the site say so?
For your information, I'm a 50 year old plus guy with above average muscular development, have never used a steroid and have had on more than one occasion people make the assumption that I did. So what does that tell you?

So nice to FINALLY read all of this thread!!
I am from a small town and where I workout I am pretty much the only female down there squatting over 200lbs and what do I get, why would you want to gain mass? Seriously do I have something stamped on my head that says please stop me I don't know what I'm doing cause I'm a little girl? I am all about the size and my other half gives me all the pointers I need to get there so having his support has been amazing! I am proud to say after going through one useless workout after another I have finally found one that I LOVE and have gained 3/4 of an inch on my arms in 3 months!! YEAH!!!! I do want to compete just once in natural bodybuilding but like others here I just want to look strong and healthy as well, I have so much pride in myself for what I do in the gym that I want that pride to show on the outside as well. What makes it better though is proving to yourself you can do it, hard work and dedication, something we all here do everyday!!
Keep pounding it out in the gym ladies!!!!

Honestly, I doubt that I'll ever get 'big' muscles without drugs, so I don't think of it happening. I just want to look as strong and muscular as possible without looking like I'm juiced/unnatural. You know what I mean?
PS:The thought of what 'big muscles' look like had changed so drastically in my head for the past year! When I first started bodybuilding, I thought Jillian Michaels was huge--no kidding!! And I wanted to be just as 'big' as her. But eventually I started to realize she's just really lean--and good looking. I set different standards and then the same thing happen and so on, I think I'm just constantly modifying my 'ideal' imaginary body image.

While I am sure genetics plays a big role, you'd be surprised what a lot of hard work can do. I am much more muscular than I'd have ever dreamed, and it was all done the old fashioned way. In fact, I suspect I could be even bigger if only I could stomach more protein powder and it didn't mess up my stomach so much.

I meant 'huge' as those juiced bodybuiling women you see when you google 'bodybuilding female'. I've seen many many muscular-and fairly big- ladies here and I really admire the way they look and look up to them (no homo). But they're not nearly as huge as the steriotyped 'bodybuilder'.
Other than that, I agree with you. I have gone from skinny and weak to a much bigger physique in a matter of 18 months mainly through hard work and diet. I cannot imagine what would happen if I kept did this for 3 or 5 or 10 years!!

I just wanna be SWOLE! Kidding! I am all for big muscles and that is what I am after. I have noticed my shoulders and back getting wider and I absolutely love it. Makes my waist look smaller! My legs are finally starting to come around (hate leg workouts UGH) but I want my legs to look like I have on padded football pants when I put my jeans on.
I think women who lift and are muscular are among the sexiest women there are. Lots of them on this site I truly admire and hope I can look like one day!**DIRTYSOUTHCREW**

Muscular Women, I once saw one at the Gym, she was doing 50 lbs Should Curls with her arms low, I felt very Intimidated, did what she did and saw that they were 60lbs. The need for women to be muscular probably comes from Amazons, but I know some are insecure or maybe something happened to them as a child. It generally goes against accepted female gender rolls, then again, the controlled media is littered with scrawny women.
