150 grams Fat of Peanut Butter/Day

I hear peanut butter fat is very very healthy for you, but is it alright if someone eats 150 grams of fat from peanut butter every day? I'm not sure about this...Because on top of the peanut butter, they are eating fat from other sources of food.

I also heard eating too much peanut butter can also be bad?

By the way, this is all natural peanut butter.

This is the nutrition forum and not the "get big" forum. Nutritionally, you can do better than getting 150g of fat a day from just PB.

What about Skippy and Jif? Are these a complete waste? I hear people criticising them a lot, but when I look at the nutrition chart on it, it doesn't look too bad.

This is for Jif creamy peanut butter (with fresh roasted peanut taste...mmmm)

It's says 2% or less of the following ingredients....then it lists molasses, partially hydrogenated vegetable oil, fully hydrogenated vegetable oils, mono and diglycerides and salt.

Would the less then 2% really make much of a difference? I hope not.....I really don't want to give up my chep n' tasty peanut butter.

there is not enough difference in natural to jiff to make any difference in your look at all. Unless you sit on here all day and eat jiff and dont work out. then maybe you might have a problem. eating either NP or jiff and working out and eating good foods ont op of it is fine. dont worry man

For me it's more of a matter of not supporting companies that put nasty **** in our food.

Go to other countries and check out their food products and they won't have half the **** that we have in our food. It's disgusting and I will not give my hard earned money to these fat ****s who try to poison us.

Another natural vs. peter pan peanut butter thread, woohoo!

My point in these threads is to suggest if you have a healthier alternative then why not take it? If we are going to say it does not really matter, why not let it not really matter by choosing the healthier peanut butter? Just common sense to me. There are many other undesireable products out there that list ingredients like that as well, if it is ok for PB then it must be ok for other foods. Or no? Baked doritos sound good about now!

Btw, I would put the new Smart Balance PB up against Jif any day of the week. No difference in taste or texture. It is also made with flaxseed oil, so it is not just about what is left out of it, but what you are getting in it as well.

First of all, there's usually only a 1 to 2g difference in sugar between the two kinds, if that.

Second of all, as has already been pointed out, the miniscule amount of trans fat in peanut butter is really not going to harm you.

I vote we should just conclude all the PB debate with one is cleaner than the other, which earns it the title of natural, and leave it at that.

    Bingo!

if it's better for you even in the slightest. why not choose the better alternative.

It just seems like common sense.

Now say your at the in laws (or a guest in another persons house) and you want a snack and the only PB they have is Jiff, don't pass it up becuz it's not Natty.

The bottom line to me is go with what healthier, just makes most sense.

That much PB is probably going to add up to a lot more omega-6 than is likely to be optimal in your diet.

It won't harm you, but it can't possibly be the best way to get your fats. That's like getting all of your protein just from chicken. The body responds well to variety. At least supplement with some flax or fish oil just to get a mix of fats. I could be wrong though.

I think 150g fat from pb is too much. Just don't go overboard with it and you'll be good.

Skippy makes one called "Natural" and it's just peanuts, sugar, palm oil and salt....but it's probably no better than any of the others. It seems less oily though.

I'm gonna say no even though people will disagree with me. Most people respond better to a large mix of food. A few types of people won't (Inuit being once since they do well with almost all fish diets) but for the most part you need a bigger variety than 150g of fat from PB.

I think I might get into the peanut butter industry. Your weekly supply of peanut butter alone would keep me in business.
