Well I went to a sports medicine doctor like 2 weeks ago and he said I popped my "SI joint" and sprained/strained my lower back in diff places(thank you bad Deadlift form). He of course said I couldnt lift for a few weeks. But the physical therapist he prescribed said I could as long as its on machines or my back is supported, or not affecting lower back. I cant even pickup a dumbbell that weights more then like 40lbs and walk to a bench without it hurting. So my question is, as a thin hard gainer, can you actually make decent progess using just machines really(other then weighted dips and pullups and such like that , that i do anyway). I was finally making decent gains but I was using all freeweights before I got hurt. I try to follow the "bodybuilding" way and make sure while lifting heavy, i lift things that i can get with good form 6 - 8 reps, even on the machines. I feel so jipped with no freeweights and dumbells. Help , depressed

I had stopped for a week before the physical therapist my doc prescribed for a month or so said "thats just liability worry" and said I can do the machines and the like. I'm sure I am slowing my progress becuase of dumb little things i do when trying to workout as i can(like maybe carry a weight wrong or something) but even he said, something is better then sitting around doing nothing. I miss my freewieghts
