Newbie questions on the E-Z bar

    Hi,
I was looking to buy some basic equipment and then I came across the E-Z bar. I couldn't find any articles on it so I came here to ask some questions.
    - What are the advantages using the E-Z bar?
    - What are the curves for?
    - Where do I place my hands when I知 curling?
    - What other exercises can I do with it?
    - Is it ok to bench with it? (I知 too poor to buy both a straight and E-Z bar)
    Thanks

    EDIT
    i wanna add another question
    - Are there anything I can do with a straight bar that I can't with an E-Z bar?

The EZ bar is designed to take the strain off of your wrists and forearms when doing curling type exercises. A straigth bar can be very tough on the joints for some people with curling exercises.
The curves are where you put your hands. Once you try it, you'll know where they go
    - What other exercises can I do with it?
Lying tricep extensions & narrow grip presses.
    - Is it ok to bench with it? (I知 too poor to buy both a straight and E-Z bar)
Not really designed for that, the curves are not designed for that type of hand placement when benching. If you are a newbie (you are) work with the straight bar for a while. Then, as the weight increases, you can add an EZ curl bar later when you can afford it..
    - Are there anything I can do with a straight bar that I can't with an E-Z bar?
You can't bench, squat, or deadlift with an EZ curl. Those are the big 3 exercises needed to grow. If it is one or the other, STRAIGHT BAR WINS first. EZ curl later.

This is an 8-year old post, but I think it should be seen by other noobs as it's quite informative about the justification of using and / or purchasing an EZ bar. Thanks for your post!
