Feels Like a Cheat But Not a Cheat Foods?
I thought it might be fun to start a thread to see what everyone's secrets are when it comes to giving in to cravings without cheating. I am sure that everyone has something that they eat that isn't considered cheating, but feels like they are.
I've only been at this for a couple of weeks now and I've already come up with a couple of things. When I get cravings they are for salty and savory foods. I rarely get sweet cravings. I am also a pizza junkie, if I could live off the stuff I would!
Anyway, here are a couple things that have gotten me through so far.
Cracked Pepper and Olive Oil Triscuit crackers -> these are a great substitute for me when it comes to craving potato chips, the seasoning on these is amazing
Pizza made with a whole wheat tortilla as a crust, tomato sauce, spinach, mushrooms, onion, peppers, chicken and a bit of part skim mozzarella -> this really satisfies my craving for pizza
If you've got anything you'd care to share, let's hear it!

When I crave salty foods, it always seems I want potato chips. My healthy alternative are Farmland's Harvest Cheddar Veggie Crisps - they have enough salt to fool my tastebuds.
When I want sweets but want a healthier version, I make a chocolate tofu pie and then do 1/16 slices - its about 120 calories, chocolately but no loaded with fat.

I tend to crave sweets more than salty snacks.
The BSN Dessert Protein has really helped with my sweet cravings or plain organic yogurt with frozen berries.
Also, the cleaner my diet, the less cravings I get.

I am addicted to yogurt, fruit, and granola parfaits. My favorite recipe would be cottage cheese (blended in food processor until smooth) topped with strawberries/blueberries and 2 tbsp. granola. Then I pour some sugar free maple syrup over top! You can experiment with all sorts of flavours, fruits and extracts!!! Gets yummier every time....!

Roasted chickpeas are great.
Cafe Mocha - mix 2 tbsp milk with 1 tbsp cocoa powder. Add coffee. Mix again. Add sweetener, and more milk if desired. 1 tbsp cocoa is only 12 calories.

I decided to make my 'comfort food' my favorite cereal (kashi heart to heart) with a spoon of peanut butter. Then it became my breakfast. But if I'm ever having a depressed-and-I-need-to-eat-moment, I just eat that. It throws off my macros, but it's not junky.
I also love love love my smoothie, which I only do occassionally. 1 c soy milk, 1 banana, 1/2 c frozen berries, blend. It's better than ice cream, really.
I like pizza too, so I make a whole wheat crust with home made sauce (so it's low sodium without HFCS or sugar), pineapple, chicken, mushrooms, bell peppers, and some cheese. I pile on the chicken and vegetables so it ends up being so thick I only eat half a slice at a time, which is okay for my eating habits.

I make "protein goo" sometimes LOL
It's 1 scoop of protein powder, about 1 tbsp of fat free sugar free Jello pudding mix (butterscotch is best) and about 1/2 tbsp of peanut butter. I add 1-2 tbsp of water and mix it into a thick goo paste in a tiny sized tupperware container (the size used for salad dressings, etc)
Then I freeze it for about 2 hours. I take it out and eat it with a spoon for my M6, it's a bit like fudge.

I like adding cocoa powder to my protein shakes, makes me feel like I'm drinking a milkshake
I crave sweet also, so sometimes I have a coffee with a piece of dark chocolate.

Every night, my last meal consists of 1% whipped cottage cheese, 1 tbsp pb, 1/2 scoop vanilla or chocolate whey and a melted lindt dark chocolate truffle on top.
Having chocolate every night and having it still fit in my strict macros does wonders for the mind.
