How long does it take to lose muscle?

For example, if I don't work out for 2 weeks then do a normal training session, will I be just as well off as before? Obviously, I wouldn't gain any muscle but would the muslce be retained? How long does it take to lose noticable muscle gains?

if you were to take two weeks off
you should eat extra big, and healthy.
you can still gain size on days off, just not
    lean muscle.
two weeks shouldn't cause too much set back.
muscle memory will kick in and a couple work outs
on your come back and you'll be back to normal if not better off.

IMO having a 2 week resting period is great if you train hard for and properly for like 6 months. Recently i have stopped training due to exams but i am back into it now and i "think" i have grown bigger. Like being wider

    hope this helps

people make too much of a big deal out of weeks off...i took 2 months off (not on purpose. i had too many things come up) and i lost a LITTLE muscle (kinda noticable though)

all came back after a month of lifting again

i find i feel bigger after a few days off because i am fully repaired. But after 5-6 days of no lifting I begin to feel smaller. Its more a mental thing because your muscles are not pumped or hard from a recent workout. It would take about 2 weeks for the muscle to begin getting smaller. But if you ever do have an extended period of time off the gym, just remember muscle memory. Once you get back in the gym, you will recover your muscle much easier than it is go gain it in the first place.

I once stopped training for around 3months due to injury and a few other things.. didn't really notice any loss of size, I was eating pretty much the same as before.. but when I returned to the gym, If I were to try press the same weight as before, I would fail.

I would also shake really badly, all back to normal after 2 weeks of solid training.
Funny how the body remembers and adapts just like It was before.
