    Cutting water intake

I have two weeks left on my cut (not competing) and I'm 2.5 lbs above my goal of 165lbs by Aug 1st. I've been drinking tons of water everyday and am thinking that I may be carrying a little too much water. Would cutting back on water slowly over the next two weeks help take the weight off even if no more fat comes off? Or mabye I should just wait until 2 - 3 days before and drop as much water as possible.
My 3 golden rules for weight training.
    1. Stress the muscle through progressive overload.
    2. Stress the muscles in the path the fibres run.
    3. Stress the muscle with maximum contraction, stretch and static holds.

I don't know much about professional bodybuilders and how they shed the "extra" water weight before a show, but I'm pretty sure they don't do this until the day before or so. And even then I don't think it will make that much of a difference when you go to take pictures.

I would say cut out carbs and sodium way before you cut out water.

Good advice. Try cutting out carbs for 3-4 days, and you should lose at least 4 pounds.

Thanks, I'll give it a go. Normally I would just continue my diet and lose fat slowly but I'm kinda in a friendly competition to meat certain goals by Aug 1.

cut carbs 48 hours out, sodium 24 hours out, and then water 12 hours out.

That is what a friend of mine does to make weight classes for boxing. Then he goes and eats a quarter-pounder with fries after his weigh in.
