Muscle Milk vs. Muscle Milk Collegiate

What makes the Collegiate version different from the regular Muscle Milk? The Collegiate is much cheaper...

The collegiate version is one that conforms to regulations for it to be suggested and/supplied by a coach or other person in a college institute. means more protien more calories and more carbs. moving from original muscle milk to like a halfway point to the cytogainer.

No it really isn't though... a coach cannot supply his athletes with protein supplements it is prohibited.

I dont think its actually cheaper when you look at servings.

    Collegiate (5lb): 1 serving is 4 scoops....16 servings per container - 25.95
    MM (5lb) : 1 serving is 2 scoops....30 servings per container - 42.95
    MM (2.5lb) 1 Serving is 2 scoops.....15 servings per container - 23.95

These prices were on a different site. So as you can see MM(2.5lb) is a little cheaper than the Collegiate(5lb) for the servings and is alot cheaper in the MM(5lb) vs. Collegiate (5lb)

I'm probably wrong, but I was under the impression the reason they came out with the collegiate was because the regular MM had something in it that was banned by the NCAA

My school, Florida State, Theres a huge supply of MM Collegiate RTD in the weight room, along with showcase/fridge of Gatorade. Idk about high school, but college, definitely. As for the difference, I'm not sure.

The collegiate version is much higher in carbs, as i think they can't have supplements that are mainly protein.

Compliance: Muscle Milk Collegiate is in full compliance with the committee on competitive safeguards and medical aspects of sports standards and contains no banned substances.

Now that i think about it you may be right. I know that the MM collegiate doesn't have the creatine CGC or whatever this is from bb.com:

Creatine Production: Patent-pending, medically proven EndoCreatineTM gives you maximum benefits of creatine loading and storage by increasing your body's natural production of creatine.

this was taken from the description of MM regular. I believe on the tubs it is listed as Creatine CGC or something like that but is the same ingredient.

i believe there was something rumored to be in the original formula that was banned by the NCAA and also there was too much protein per calorie or some crap like that. and with muscle milk being a big product with alot of SEC & big 10 colleges, they came out with muscle milk collegiate that was fully compliant with ncaa regs.

if you look at the NCAA banned supplement list one of the things on it is IGF-1 musclemilk is said to produce these levels. hence why it is supposed to be banned. I have heard from an athletic trainer at my school that the levels in it are supposed to be so miniscule that for levels to be high enough to be tested positive you will have to drink a serving and hour before testing...
