Amout of sodium intake while cutting

I wanted to know how much is the maximum amount of sodium i should consume a day while on a cut. Ive reached a plateau and maybe doing something about the sodium will help me break that plateau. I comsume about 4500 mg of sodium daily.

the sodium shouldnt really be a big issue if your doing enough cardio...but try cutting back and see what happens, theres really not an answer to your question

I don't think sodium has any calories, so it won't affect your cutting. However, it does make you retain more water. So if your planning to get like really ripped, eventually you'll have to cut the sodium back some.

Not sure about fat loss, but here's a 'health' opinion.

When I was in to see the Doc last week, I brought a copy of my food log for him to review (I was/am having a bout with high blood pressure at 25yrs old... 6' 220lbs... yikes!) At any rate, he advised that I cut the sodium to approx 2000mg per day. He then followed on to state that the average American intakes approximately 10,000mg of sodium per day so he'd allow 3000mg. Seems like a fair guideline from a health standpoint.... (2000 to 3000mg/day).

Good luck with you weight loss!

if you are active and sweat a lot you can and should go considerably above the RDA without any ill effects.

blood pressure is dependent upon a lot of factors. docs tend to cling to the sodium one as it's one of the simplest to "fix".

Same thing goes for vitamins, too..I believe. The RDA is only for those people who don't do anything.

If you eat a lot of sodium, I would try to eat a lot of potassium as well. Do not take potassium pills though, they can kill you. Eat plenty of natural foods, such as fresh meat and broccoli and potatoes/yams.
