Whats your guys' opinion on cheese?
Do you guys have it on your diet? Not the fat free sodium filled stuff... I mean fresh cheese like and whats your fave? Feta , Stilton etc... How much of it do you have and what are you goals? Can you keep lean with cheese on your diet?

I try to get most of my cheese from Pizza. Papa John's has whole wheat pizza's now with all natural, organic tomato sauce and 100% sirloin beef topping. The cheeses are all mixed in and it's a great healthy meal.

The only cheese in my diet right now is cottage. I'm not anti- cheese, but it sure would be easy to overdo it. Just watch the portions and you should be fine. Ricotta is good, too, try the part skim.

About the only cheese I make a habit of eating is the string cheese and cheddar cheese made with 2% milk. Healthier than full fat cheese and not nasty like some of the so called diet cheese. I also have fresh parmasian that I sometimes top chicken or a casserole with.

It's either cottage cheese or fat free shredded cheese(9gprotein, 0fat, 1 carb for 1/4 cup) for me.

I'm cutting right now but, I use fetta a couple times a week in my eggs and salads, but I use it sparingly.
Riccotta is fine too.

Those cheese singles that come in plastic are way too processed for my liking. Good cheese that you buy in gourmet stores, etc is ok in moderation I gues, but IMO it still does not offer much nutritional benifits.
EDIT: CC is a different story...eat up

When I'm training inseason for hurdling, I like to ahve atleast 1-2 slices of swiss or mozzarella cheese in sandwiches. Also CC is a staple for me. Other than that, unless its a casserole that I'm asked to make, cheese is scarcely used in my diet.

Guys dont listen to this azzhole, this guy think its funny to "give out the wrong info", he doesnt know shyt - dont listen to him!!
Anyway, as far as havin' the "healthy" cheese. The 2 kinds of cheese that i would recommend is #1 cottage cheese and #2 cheddar cheese(also recommended in arnold's encyclopedia of bb).
Now it also all depends on if ur on a "high" cal. day or low cal day. But as far as what kind of cheese, stick with those 2 i said, they're the healthiest.
Good Luck

I can't do cottage cheese. No control - I'll eat the entire tub in one sitting without trying.

I'm right there with you. I plan on eating half and the next thing I know it's all gone. Ah well it's only 400 calories.
I like cheese and do have it on occasion. Should you eat it all the time? No. Havarti, Brie, and Gouda is good stuff.

I've heard of cottage cheese, especially before bed, for the healthy, slow digesting fats, but why cheddar cheese? Is it the same reason, or is there something else to it?

No cheese or milk in my diet.
Ever feel bloated? Try cutting out cheese and milk. I'm not lactose intolerant but I sure as hell felt a million times better after cutting dairy (minus protein shakes) from my diet.
They do make veggie cheese and vegan cheese too. The texture is different since it's soy but it tastes almost the same as regular store bought. Nothing can really compare to fresh cheese put into a well made meal. If I lived in Italy forever I would be fat and I would love it.

Unless I'm really cutting hard I eat 1/2-1oz cheese 4-5 times/week.
NO crap cheese though, that's just not worth the calories.

So you are cutting hard or cutting the cheese? hahahahaha Okay, it wasn't that funny.
Never eat anything crap if there is a tasty alternative - none of it is worth the calories.

I've recently added cheese into my menu and I plan on keeping it...It just feels good to eat something that some would consider "naugthy" ya know? Even tho I tend to go with the FF kind...hahah...But yea...what I have now is part-skim mozzerella, FF american, and 2% lite swiss...Goes great melted in a sandwich!

LOL, I never re-read my post. It is funny because I love really hard cheese, and even 'age' most stuff I can buy here for a month or two in the fridge before I eat it. Of couse it works out well since I don't eat a lot, so I leave it a month, then start eating it and but the time I'm 1/2 way though it, it is really good.

Every so often I get up to Wisconsin and load up on cheese. Then I freeze it so it doesn't mold. Does that age it at all?

It doesn't mold. Good cheese tends not to. It does get very smelly though! I would cut off any mold before eating it, however, the mold on cheese is similar to that on bread (at least the first molds) and I've eaten my fair share of that as a student.
Of course many cheeses, like blue, are made with 'mold' - that's what gives it its flavor.

I've heard creatine comes from mold, so I've been eating a lot of moldy bread/cheese for the last few days. How long do you think it will take before I start seeing some results?

LOL
Love cottage cheese (used almost daily) and use FF cheddar on cooked eggs white about once a week to get a little fix and to change up the egg whites (omelet with one yolk and eggbeatters). Also a slice or 2 of pizza as a cheat meal about every 2 to 3 weeks or at least once a month ... I think for a lot of us ... that is most peoples favorite cheat meal.

I think that if you aren't on a cutting diet, you shoud really enjoy your cheeses. It can help provide you with a good dose of calcium which in turn would benefit you

Fat free cottage cheese is my favorite bodybuilding food. I also make cassedillas with whole wheat tortillas and mozzerella cheese (sure hope I spelled all that right).
