Question Too much protein = kidney stones??

Lately i've noticed (like the past day) that i've been urinating a lot less than i usually do despite drinking the same amount of water. I've heard that too much protein (as in that of a bodybuilder) can lead to kidney stones. Over the past week i have also been noticing pain in the hips and around the pelvis. My question is am i in the process of passing a kidney stone?? I notice a slight burning when urinating, no blood in the urine, and no fever or anything like that.

I don't know about kidney stones but it could be a simple UTI. Try drinking some cranberry juice. That will ease the burning if it is a mild UTI. If that doesn't help you should probably see a doctor because it could get pretty painful if you are passing a stone.

sounds more like urinary tract/kidney infection - these can get pretty nasty so you should probably see a dr

I've had kidney stone 4 times, and BELIEVE ME, you would know if you had then. It feels like you have to $hit, then you feel like you need to piss, then you just want to lay on the floor and die, and then repeat that whole process for about 4-5 hours until you can get to the hospital for some demarol. I usually have attacks when I have been consuming large amounts of cola drinks and things of that nature, so I avoid them now. Not sure about the protien, but if you can type, and have rational thought, you aren't having a kidney stone attack.

I heard kidney stones are the most painful thing next to childbirth.

What are some ways to avoid them?

Be hydrated AT ALL TIMES. 3 liters of water a day I think?

Some people will also tell you to stay away from diary products.
