    Creatine make you dizzy??

I was curious if anyone here using Creatine Monohydrate has any side effects at all. I seem to get dizzy from time to time and it lasts maybe an hour. I am not saying for sure creatine is causing it, but since I started using it not quite 2 full weeks ago, I have just started getting dizzy. It does not seem to be a big problem, just annoying. Thanks

I have never gotten dizzy after taking it, but the first time I tried it I got headaches. I had to give up on it to get them go away, tried it again about a year later and the headaches never returned.

I actually got headaches during the loading phase also, but this was due to over hydration. I was drinking at least a gallon of water more than usual everyday and it caused me to get headaches. As soon as I backed the water off a bit, they went away and have never returned. I can already notice a difference in the muscle size and shape since I started the creatine. I realize a lot of it is what the creatine has deposited within the muscle fibers... but man, I am impressed so far.
Again, I am not sure it is the creatine causing my dizzyness, it just started around the same time.

I got nauseous using Swole, to the point of actually puking. I don't recall being dizzy but I ****canned the rest of the Swole after it happened a second time.

I've been hesitant to try creatine for fear of the same.

What he said. You might also look at a different variant of creatine like Kre-Alkalyn or CEE. I use the Kre-Alk in capsule form, and have never felt sick from it.

Does your creatine have dextrose in it? Are you taking simple sugars with it? If so, you can be getting high blood sugar followed by a drop in blood sugar which will make you feel dizzy.

I use straight creatine and whey for my post workout shake. I don't use anything that could cause an insulin spike.

Thank you for the great response! I forgot about the sugar thing, although I had read it. I did check mine and it has 0 sugars. I use AST Micronized Ceartine Monohydrate. About drinking more water, I said in my original post that I was drinking a gallon of water a day and it gave me headaches. Maybe if I spread it out more and drank a couple glasses throughout the night, it might easse the amount of water in my system just enough to take care of the headaches. Thanks guys!

That AST creatine has dextrose in it. That is pure "sugar". That is why I stopped taking it. It made me dizzy. Check again to make sure I am right.

Just quickly.. An insulin spike is exactly what you want after a workout.. If you don't like dextrose (like me) you can use simple carbs like white bread or rice to achieve the same thing.

Plenty of articles on this site about insulin

the dizziness may be a result of dehydration. I typically drink at least 3-4 L of water prior to my wods. Other people I know required even more.

If I take creatine first thing in the morning on a 8hr fasted stomach I risk dizziness or feeling nauseated. I have also felt funny if I'm low on carbs..... this could purely be because of the low carb though. I have also felt dizzy-ish if I drank to much coffee.

I feel best when I eat, lift, then drink my creatine with apple juice.
