i am new to the "body building" scene. I am in good shape, but not the right kind i believe. I want to some day compete in fitness competitions. Any advice on how to get started??? such as nutrition or work outs... it would be a great help!!

Read the stickies. It's all in there.

Basically, pay strict attention to your diet. Work out your calories and stick to them. Eat six small meals a day, with a quality protein, some veg and a good fat in each one. Take a protein shake after lifting. Drink lots of water, go to bed on time and watch less tv.

When you go to the gym, don't mess around. Lift intensely, with the heaviest weight you can manage with good form for 8-12 reps. You can vary that number as you go on. Use mostly free weights, and compound exercises. SQUAT. You gotta squat. Forget the adductor machine, it's a total waste of time.

When you are doing your cardio, pump it up. That whole "fat burning zone" thing is a myth. HIIT will burn more fat and more calories and you'll be finished quicker too.
