Mods usually have a rep for being helpful or possessing a lot of knowledge in areas such as steroids, diet, bodybuilding in general.

The heart of this sight is good people who get out of line sometimes, the trolls have made bb.com not such a good place to post. I think if yall spent more time finding the trolls and permabanning them and less time attacking good/useful members of bb.com then it would make it a much happier place to post for all of us, and who knows your job may even get a little easier after a while.

Exactly. I used to report trolls all the time, but now I just don't care anymore. I'm also not a member who only posts in misc. I actually made someone's list of the "most helpful" people in the exercise forum a while back. All this energy is being spent doing things that effect good members, and this time and energy should be spent trying to clean up the troll-ridden forums here. I hardly post here at all anymore because of that, not the board politics.

There are 2 reasons why my sig is permitted:
1) Offshore do NOT have banner advertisements to other online supp vendors
2) Offshore is a PRIVATE board

NO WHERE did i say posting links to other sites in your sig is against the rules just sites that have banners for other supplement vendors and sites that badmouth BB.com

well yes....that's why about 200 of us (who now frequent "another" site) left. i mean IMO the adivce has really went downhill around ehre since then, but bodybuilding.com will never admit it. i consider myslef fairly valuable when it comes to giving objective advice and i feel like a noob compared to those guys on the "other" site. i personally feel having links to other sites was ever a problem until we all left. i know ryan lost at least $150 a month when i switched to another supplement vendor.....maybe us leaving made a dent in his business?

so what we bad-mouth this site. we don't come to this site and lure people in do we? we don't start threads saying "come join iron****" do we?i assure you all the badmouthing id done in a private section of our board anyways....we can't help it new people join our site and bad-mouth bb.com.

Unrelated advertising-goods and services offered for sale by companies-ie Nike Shoes, Car Insurance etc... (not a related BB site that sells nothing. Yes a competing supplement retailer is advertised but they do not own the site and no money is made from the sale of goods or services to that site. BB.com's store is also linked and I'm sure if it was the only one listed there would be no debate. Also there is not one thread at IM bashing BB.com, so it's not a site dedicated to hating this site nor is it a troll refuse. This is still the best site on the net for BB information but it's forums have gone right down the toilet (with the exception of a few sections). Very disappointing to all the guys like me who have been here for years supporting the site and Ryan's store. I don't know if it can be fixed but you guys bickering with members and ruling with an Iron fist isn't helping.

2) lots of people find themselves valuable

3) 150 a month isn't anywhere near a dent. that probably wouldn't pay for even 1 photoshoot of one of the bb'ers this site sponsors.

4)actually thats why a few of your members were banned, was repetitive advertising after being asked to stop. then an entire 9 page thread going back and forth between IM and EG by your members which I had to take care of. then the thread like bozz listed. try again.

We DID ease up and **** got out of hand. Members thought that because we had been lax as of late that we wouldn't ban and come down on them because of their high rep count or high post count. that's NOT the way things work. Members here used to have 15,000+ posts here and were cool as hell with the mods they didn't give us any problems because they new they screwed up once and they were permabanned and it was all down the drain. Now members believe their post count and rep is some form of protection from being a jackass because we have options other than the permaban.

However in cases like this there should be no bitching. It's a rule. It's been there since the new rules were added and now it's being enforced again. We got lax realized that we created a problem in the forum because of it and now we're going to correct it. If it costs us a few members so be it.

exactly, this ISN"T a new rule folks...it's like having a road you speed down every day then one day an officer sits and runs radar and you get a ticket. it's not his fault because no officer had happened to be there when you sped for the past few months. it's a longstanding rule thats being enforced. you agreed to abide by them when you registered

Your taking one line out of context in order to win the argument. The rule is to prevent competitors stealing business from Ryans store not to discourage links to other bodybuilding related sites. Since there is a store advertised on IM it falls into a grey area and I can see BoZz's point but if the store was not there the rule would not apply.

Your saying that a link to any site constitutes advertising which is false. If I were to link say http://www.webmd.com/ for someone that asks about a medical condition is that advertising?

the bolded part above connotates a seperation of two distinct thoughts in the same sentence or else it would just say no links to outside vendors

using a link to show an article is dif than advertising for a site...saying webmd.com to a thread asking for medical advice isnt quite the same as saying "go IM!!!"

it comes down to the part that says mod approval. if another site is a competitor with bb.com then its obvious. due to stuff at IM, as well as the actions of their members, it is no longer on good standingwith the mods here. when it first started was one thing, when it's members make dozen page threads in misc spamming IM.com it's another.

let's do some math:
150 a month times 12 months in a year: $1800
$1800 times the 3 years i've bought from here monthly: $5400
now....let's say there's 5-10 guys on our site that are in the same situation i am: that's between $25,000 and $50,000 over 3 years.....that's some dent isn't it?
