So you're pro? No offense, but 137 is pretty small even for 5'6. For a body builder or arm wrestler, I mean. Isn't the lowest weight class for most arm wrestling tournaments 170 lbs. and below?I compete for Team Canada...and yes teh other guy in the pic, Taras....as on e of the most impressive biceps i have ever seen....his body was made for armwrestling...i am not sure of the facts about Voevoda coming out and im sure it will stay behind closed doors...

137 is huge...the weight classes at the Worlds start off at 0-121, 121-132, 132-143 all of wich i have competed and won at the National Level
these are some of the best in the world.....i weighed 131 at this years Nationals and ended up winning the 143lb class...my weights at the gym are higher than people i know at 170lbs...i usually pull the 200lb class out here so i can gain the strength in the lighter class in the international competitionsLast edited by Armbender; 11-05-2007 at 10:39 AM.

Wow, good for you. 137 seems small to me, but I guess if you're really cut it could be kinda big, but not huge. I see in your profile you say you can curl 139 lbs. is that for a bicep curl (one hand) or a barbell curl (two hands)? I'm sure you're such a good arm wrestler because of your technique and big forearm as well. My forearm is about 12', and I have around 10% bf, is that pretty good? Are you left handed, btw? I see your profile:

Thanks...that was my first time defeating him...it felt awesome...
To qualify for the Worlds, you have to compete and place 1st or 2nd at the nationals to be invited...so each country is allowed 2 competitors per class per arm....at the 2007 Worlds in Bulgaria there were over 1600 entries and over 30 countries that were represented...it is an amayzing experience and a huge eye opener......
good luck with your training....dont forget to win, you have to learn how to lose...TRUST ME!!USPlabs Sponsored Athlete

it is tough but it makes the competition better at Nationals....Russia and Ukraine have problems with that scenario because they are all amayzing....its a good format so far....

So how do you get into the nationals? You just sign up or do you have to win other competitions first / have a record? I lost to a guy last Saturday, he's about 5'11ish (my height) but weighs 225. He is a little overweight though but has a very strong wrist. And he's 33 years old. It was close, too, and while he's not an arm wrestler really, he isn't just one of those brainless brutes who just push as hard as they can and say bending your wrist is cheating.

for us Canadians, we have to compete at our Provincial level to be allowed to compete at the Nationals. You do not have to place either. Just contributing to the tourney allows you to represent your province at the Canadians....then each province bids each year to see where the location will be i.e. Nova Scotia, British Columbia..etc...do you have a club in your area?..if not try on this message board to find one...you wont know how good/bad you are until you get on a professional table..its a whole new ball game...

Strong bump. I just found a documentary on John Brzenk on Netflix at random. It was recommended. I had never heard of him, although Ive never paid any attention to armwrestling. What an awesome documentary and Brzenk is just an amazing athlete. Looks like he has continued to compete and do really well internationally until recently when he had his right shoulder operated on. An historic American athlete.
