New to everything!
Just saying hello!
New to bb.com - just joined a few days ago and I'm addicted already!
New to physical activity - have never worked out and now I'm paying for it. sigh... gotta start somewhere.
New to forums - new to this section and I saw an over 35 journalling section that I am going to start to stay accountable!
So I've done a pretty good job of starting my profile so you can find out all the low down and dirty on me there!
Thanks!

Ditto. Welcome!
I just started getting into shape at the ripe old age of 46 on Oct. 8. So, I'm a noob too. Been working out with a personal trainer MWF and trying to stay active on off days (cardio to lose weight: hiking, etc.)
The biggest change has been my diet. I've given up alcohol completely (not that I ever drank all that much) and don't miss it, and have been eating healthy: 5-6 small meals a day within my calorie budget.
The trick is to start slow, with what you can handle: there is more satisfaction in getting stronger, leaner, and having more stamina, than there is disappointment at giving up because you try to hard too fast.
My usual workout consists of 10 minutes on the bike or treadmill to warm up, stretching, a whole body workout with free weights and machines lasting 45 minutes, stretching, then 45 minutes on the bike or -mill again. MWF. I try to get in a 4-5 mile hike on the weekends. In a few weeks, my workout will change to target different muscle groups on different days.
The folks here are really nice. Some are in far, far, better shape, than I'll be in for a long time. But, rather than show disdain, they are all (at least the vast majority) are very helpful and supportive. Some of the transformations have been amazing, and serve as an inspiration to me: some have been in far worse shape than me and have gotten in much better shape than I'd think was possible.
Diet and nutrition play a big part as well. Good luck! And again, welcome!
