Eating/Building muscle with a lack of Funds!
All right guys, I need some help here.
I kind of put myself in a bind financially, but I'm holding up ok...still, I have dropped supplementing, but
I want to preserve the muscle I worked hard for...
So, let's say you have 90 bones to spend on food to stretch for a week or two.
195-200 grams of proteing per pound needed for 5-6 meals.
Not a beef eater. inexpensive carbs don't appear to be a problem...but protein...?
Any ideas on where to start?
Any help is much appreciated, and I'll rep you for it.

Cheap Protein=Eggs. They're 49 cents a dozen out here. About 4 g's protein per large egg white. Just crack the egg and seperate the white from the yolk-toss the yolk. You can eat a couple whole eggs, and as many whites as you want.

Bulk oatmeal for the carbs
Check for specials on fruit. I just bought peaches instead of apples because they cost half the price and it's not that big of a deal to substitute fruit.
Go to Costco for BIG bags of chicken for really cheap prices. Sometimes they have a special on those too. Also, eat the food they have out for samples. After 3 trips around the store you can pretty much down an entire meal. Trust me.
Eggs are surely the way to go as said above. They are cheap and the whites are protein waiting to be munched on. Good times with eggs!

keep and eye out for sales, and stock up if u get a good one, it maybe expensive to buy 25 lbs of chicken but it will be worth it at teh end of the month, when u still have a months supply in your freezer.

90 bucks for a week's worth of food? Jesus, I spend maybe 30 bucks a week IF THAT on food, and I'm a thrifty shopper to say the least.

I hope you have a membership at Costco, cuz this will save you a bundle by buying in bulk.
1) Costco Protein Powder - 5 lbs for $20, best deal ever. I'll never buy another whey protein cuz I'll feel ripped off after buying at this price.
2) Chicken breasts, turkey burgers, salmon burgers, etc. in bulk at Costco. Buy whatever you like/want from the meats to last you for those 2 weeks. You don't need all of these, just get what you want/what fits in the budget
3) Oats...9 lbs of oats!
4) Peanut Butter, haven't bought peanut butter there yet but I assume they have natty pb.
5) Costco Peanuts (comes in huge jars)
6) Tuna...don't need to get the albacore here, you can get more of the cheaper tuna for less money.
I think that should come out to about $90 or less. Hopefully that should be enough to last 2 weeks. If you have money leftover then be sure to buy some bread/whatever else you may need. Snacking on the peanuts when you need food should be more than enough to fill your caloric needs to at least maintain weight.

90 bucks does sound like a lot, but I eat a lot (my metabolism is stupid fast..I'm an ecto). Somethings run up a little more in price than others. Like the Soy milk I purchase regularly. So far as I can tell, i just need to stick the basics. Anybody know if Costco has steel cut oats? I prefer those, but ****, beggers can't be choosers.
Anyways, thanks everybody for helping, hopefully I can hold onto as much muscle as possible until my checks start rolling in.

Theres your problem your taking in all that protien so your bill is going to high. You don't need that much. You can buy it but then just flush it thats where its going anyway.

It's funny cause I just heard on this indi-news radio station that for normal people 30 grams is the new
recommendation. 30 grams of protein a day. wow.
Now. I'm not saying I need tons of protein. I've just stuck to the 1 to 1.5 grams per pound of bodyweight rule, spaced out in 5-6 meals. Complex carbs are not a problem for me, so I don't stress it much, but eat a variety of vegetables and only consume fish/eggs as meats (an occassional bit of chicken once in a blue moon).
So anyway, I'm asking, do you have evidence to the contrary that a heavy lifter (intense cardio too) doesn't need as much protein as this? Not being rude, I'm genuinely interested.

Whats the best way to eat eggs?? I suppose i could always chuck a couple of raw eggs in my morning shake lol.
Also, for carbs. I hear cheerios are good?? As a breakfast like, and supper.
What else that is cheap apart from oats??
And for fat, would a bacon and fried egg sarnie do??
