HIT training really is just Mentzer overload training...look.. these workouts come and go every 10 years and someone else tags their frickin' name on it...there isn't any KIND of training...it's what you do in the gym...You need to find a happy balance that makes your body respond. Trial and error is the best way to do that. Not someone elses workout. Make sure you take each training system and do it exactly as its meant to be. Measure your progress..write stuff down...then decide what works. Give it at LEAST 6 weeks for each training system you decide to try. Personally I fall back into the multi set volume type of training for the standard of my bodybuilding work. I have made some gains in the past on the Mentzer type of training. if I'm pressed for time, and have a lot of things going on in my life, it's good to have less time in the gym and still be able to make progress. To be a well rounded bodybuilder you need to try these different systems to have a working knowledge of what each system is capable of for YOU and what they're NOT. Don't forget!!! Training is only part of the equation.

This pic is seriously my motivation to work out on days when I really don't feel like it.
Was this a candid shot?
When was this taken?

Not sure what the next show will be...hard to be motivated when you keep getting "the treatment" I'm enjoying eating and sleeping too much this summer!!! Till then, the treadmill is only used as amusement by my mini horse, Honey.
I am working on a training video I've done, of course it's not the usual with great lighting and stuff a lot of the other guys have, but mine has a ****LOAD of great INFORMATION, not just look what I can do type of stuff.. I know everyone likes that kind of stuff, but its just not whta I wanted to do...the stuff Lee and I did on his Reality stuff was pretty funny though, we have lots more footage, but I'm not that good a t putting it together. Keep watching my site, www.rustyjeffers.net for the DVD, but it won't be there for at least 2 months.

Rusty, I believe you have stated in earlier posts that you prefer to hit each body-part twice per week. Do you mean like the basic Arnold split type workout?
Monday/Thursday - Chest/Back
Tuesday/Friday - Shoulders/Arms
Wednesday/Saturday - Legs
It just seems like thats not enough rest for your CNS and body for a natural lifter.

Rusty -
No questions at all. Just wanted to drop a line to compliment you on your posing. I did my first comp last year and totally underestimated the rigors of holding poses. I liken posing to food poisoning....if you've never had it, 1000 words do it little justice.
So when I see someone who moves with such fluidity on stage, it's just awe inspiring for the mortal man!
Hope to compete again soon but right now I'm doing anything and everything possible to gain more mass and not look like a depleted refugee next time.
I think i need to build my own torture chamber - lol!!
Congrats on the recent show.
-Steve

Thanks all, hey BUDDHA??? That's funny, man! Where ya been?? I've been having the Saturday posing sessions at my house every week except tomorrow... ever noticed how many cars are on my cul de sac on Sat?? I'm going to my nephews wedding in Dana Point, CA...so everyone's on their own...Check us out next Saturday, lots of bodybuilders, some figure girls and a few going into the new bikini class, you'd like that...!! I really beat them up on posing, it's sort of like a "mock prejudging" on the rear deck. I've sent out a lot of GREAT posers off that deck! Most all win their weight class...ALL of them pose PERFECTLY!!! It's cool when we get people all lined up doing different shows, different levels, but they're all working just as hard as the next guy to win their shows. As for the DVD, I just have to finish the editing of it, I do my own DVD's so it's the way I want it to be. Just like my Pose Like A Pro DVD, hey if anyone needs one go to my website www.rustyjeffers.net and get one, they're the best and in my opinion, the ONLY one out there, I've had a couple of pros buy them, so believe me, it's not for the weak!!!!! My training one is kinda LONGGGGG so I'm trying to find a way to shorten it up...it would take 4 DVDs the way it stands.
KSA I like to do skull krushers then superset with pushdowns, 1 arm, dips, overhead tricep press supersetted with anything....just beat the hell out of them and do different stuff each time...
Allergic2Rice..that's pretty funny..I'd die without rice..

Rusty and Lee in MuscleMag, September 2009
Rusty and Lee are back! It is the follow-up of the previous 4-part series: "If It Moves, It's a Rep!" back in 2008. They are the best training partners!!
232 "The Return of Lee & Rusty"
The return of Lee Priest and Rusty Jeffers in one of the most intense workouts I've ever witnessed.
Here is the cover of MuscleMag, September 2009:

Legs
I have had issues with developing my legs. Mainly side sweep and hamstrings. What do you suggest?
