Get a Swizz ball and that will help you build up your core!! I went from not being able to sit on the ball properly too being able to stand on it and squat with weights!! That was all within 2 months doing it twice a week. core is easy to get the basic's done but when you get on the the advance stuff that is when you know it is working.

your balance will improve. try doing some basics and then work to more advance stuff. (stnading on the balle, pressups on two balls)

If you want a list of exericise's let me know. I will send you mine.

    What!?@#

All you need to do is keep performing squat and deadlifts heavy but as much as you can handle without loosing form. Do not use a belt as it prevents from he inner lining from exercising when you breath in deeply causing injury.

Keep doing chin ups and dips as they work your core to an extent also. As mentioned above have one session of ab training. And not the crappy one, set out a weighted circuit. Do a weighted plank, weighted sit ups, weighted side twists and leg lifts. Perform it as a set with no rest between exercises and perform about 2-4 sets per session working up the weight and the time on the plank.

Do not leave out your lower abdominals as they are one of the most important parts to a good athlete.

Just a summary, hope it helped.
ill rep you if you're using common sense

Yea it is but it is easy to do once you have got your corse strength up.It was not a major amount of weight... i was wearing a 30kg weights jacket and then had weights added on to a bar.....

Its not about core strength...its just plainly ridiculous and unsafe to even stand on a swiss ball...let alone squat on it.

Squatting on a swiss ball will only lead to injuries

LOL and as i can tell you know nothing about rugby training. When you have a contract with a professional club you can comment on training tips. It is not stupid you will find that all the england and new zealand teams do it. The England team train daily standing on the ball.... and passing a medicine ball along the line. So i think at the age of 16 you dont really know what happens in prof clubs. So pleas ekeep stupid comments like that to your self. It is easy enough to stand and squat on a ball if you have your core strength sorted out. and yes it may lead to injuries but that comes from mucking around and not training properly.

I coached (at a decent enough level) last season with a Rugby Union team and introduced the Swiss balls into our training. Was a great form of team building (taking the p1ss out of each other falling off and all that) and by the end of the season we were doing all our static handling drills standing on the balls!

What team did you use to coach!? Did you find that doing exericses on the balls helped build up players core?!

All our coaches seem to think that it did and i felt that it did. my balance improved and everything... i found that alot of my back problems went aswell...

...Swiss balls are giving rugby players a bad name. We are HARD, TOUGH ****ers.
Take your swiss ball **** and start doing some heavy ass Squats
    get your Deadlift numbers huge
get up to like 2-5 mins Plank with a 20 kg plate on your back
do pushups with someone light on your back
    ...****...
pick a 20 kg plate up and move it from one hip over your head to the other while keeping your arms straight
    do standing Military presses
    do some weighted ab work

swiss balls just dont scream "badass" to me :P

Oh dear - i'm guessing you don't incorporate any SAQ into your sessions either.

Core lifts are essential but you really need to look outside the box Monatu!

Well, you'd just end up being one dimensional. These days, to perform better as an athlete you have to look to improve your performance from all angles, strength, power, balance, agility etc

The days of training just for strength and power are truly behind us. While an essential part of any athletes workout program, they are just that, a part.
