    olympic lifts for speed training

Ok, I'm confused. The subject I'm confused about is the use of olympic type movements in training for speed. I've heard different theories from coaches, athletes, ppl on here, magazines and so forth. Being a football player at my highschool I have been doing cleans and other olympic movements thinking that they will help improved speed or explosiveness. That is what my coach has taught me but I just got done reading an article about training for speed. He says that he thinks olympic type movements done at fast speeds like their supposed to be done leave the body in a very dangerous position. He also stated a lot of other stuff that is too much for me to remember. I'll post the url to the article and I'd appreciate it if ppl would say how they feel about the article and what they feel about olympic type movements being used for speed training.

Olympic movements when done quickly increase explosiveness which in turn translates into speed. Danger is what forces your body to adapt and gain muscle mass. Don't do them so fast that you can't control the weight and do end up hurting yourself though.
