What is better, oatmeal or whole wheat bread? I know on first looks most of you would say oats but if I look at the nutrition facts of my oats and bread, they are as the following:
Oatmeal (per 100 gr)
360 kcals
11 gr protein
60 g carbs (of which 1 gr is sugar)
8 gr fat
9 gr fibre
Bread (per 100 gr)
220 kcals
9 gr protein
41 gr carbs (of which 4 gr is sugar)
1 gr fat
8 gr fibre
So in comparisment, 100 gr oatmeal will give you the same amount of kcals as ~165 gr bread, in 100 gr oatmeal there is 9 gr fibre and 11 gr protein, in 165 gr whole wheat bread there is 13 gr fibre and 15 gr protein.
Now why is oatmeal better then whole wheat bread is my question? (don't flame me for this, I'm just wondering as bread with lean meat tastes better then oats (i think) and if oats has no benefits above bread then what's the point in eating it?
Thanks in advance.

First as spirit said, they both have a place in your diet so you can eat both.
Unless I am not correct (and please correct me), 100% oatmeal (not the sweetened, processed crap don't forget) gives you slow burning fuel and takes longer to digest than just 100% whole wheat bread. Not to mention you won't be seeing me grabing some slices of bread for breakfast, oatmeal will keep you fuller longer than bread (and tastes better).
