The best way to start IMO is either a fullbody routine or upper/lower split. Basically you want more frequency and less volume. You dont want a lot of exercises. Just a few and work them once or twice a week, or at least variations of them. For example

    Monday - upper

    Bench
    DB Bench
    Lat-dominant
    Tricep
    Bicep

    Tuesday - lower

    Squat
    Quad-dominant
    Hamstring-dominant

    Thursday - upper

    Inclined Bench
    DB Shoulder Press
    Lat-Dominant
    Tricep (different exercise than monday)
    Bicep

    Friday - lower

    Squat
    SLDL
    Calves

That's just an example but you see with that you are not doing a ton of exercises but the exercises you do pick will work the whole body, both with compounds and iso's. Do 3-4 sets for an exercise and add weight every session. That's key to gaining mass, not volume.

It's personal preference in my mind. I've had great gains using a full body and split routine (currently on split)

yeah i agree with the guys above. if your just starting out you might want to do full body three times a week or something like that, however if you have expirence lifting, you might to work on your split. try to leave 72 hours so that your muscle have enough time time to grow. like this:

    day 1- legs

    day 2- chest, back, abs

    day 3- shoulders

    off

    day 4- bi's, tri's, abs

    day 1

    off

    day 2

    day 3

    day 4

    off

    day1

    etc etc etc

thats what im currently running and you really give your muscles enough time to recover. just a thought
train like a beast, gain like a beast

    Current:
    GNC- multi sport
    Optimum Nutrition-100% gold standard whey
    Prolab- Creapure
    Controlled Labs- Purple Wrath
    Optimum- fish oil
