Checking back in
Hi everyone-
Boy, it has been awhile since I've been on this site. I've been trolling on occassion but haven't had any time to post. I see some names I'm familiar with but not everyone.
For those of you who don't know me, I am a 48 year old male, big time football fan. NY Giants all the way. I have 3 kids, 2 with my current wife (10 and 9) and an 18- year old from a previous. All of my time is spent with them and my wonderful wife. I coach my kids in everything I can spare the time for, with my favorite being football. My son (10-years old) is a terrific athlete who plays football, baseball, soccer and basketball with football being his love and his best sport. He's a big kid and plays d-line and offensive line for his 10 and 11 year old team. My 9-year old daughter is a princess who dances, cheerleads, plays basketball and soccer.
I lift in my home gym, at 5am before the kids wake up. My wife works out at 4am, god bless her ! I have a power rack, about 500lbs of plates, powerblock db's (90lb set), 2 benches, a lat pulldown machine, a bike and an elliptical. Not to mention a great stereo ! I believe in heavy weights and focus on the big lifts (deads, squats, incline bench press). I usually go with high reps for legs, meaning 20 - 30 rep squats, but often like to switch it up and go heavy, low reps.
I've just changed careers. I've been in IT my whole life, most recently as a director in a large company implementing internet sites around the world. Exciting stuff but the travel was killing me. I am now an executive recruiter and loving every minute of it.
I hope to participate in some discussions. I would like to start a journal but I'm not always that good at keeping them updated, although I'm diligent at keeping it updated at home.
Take care everyone and see you around the boards.
GF

Hi again -
wanted to share something .. when I first took up the weights after a 5 year layoff (Jan 2002), I had just lost 25 lbs of fat. After about 9 months of lifting, I lost another 15 and weighed in at 220. That weight has stayed pretty consistent since then, I never really fluctuate either way. Well, last week, for the first time since god only knows, I bought a pair of pants with a waist size under 40 ! Now, for many of you, that may not be a very big deal, but to me, that was such a big thing ! Going down in pants size without losing weight is a great thing..means I'm building muscle. But to not have to get pants with a 40 or more inch waist was such an accomplishment. I was proud of myself ! and extremely surprised when I put on the 40 inch waist and it was too big !
That's it for now. Just had to put this down.
