Any Absinthe drinkers in the house?
I just got my bottle of La Bleue Clandestine in the mail today and I am totally pumped to drink it later tonight. Anyone else a fan of abstinthe, and what brands to you drink?

i know nothing of asbinthe except from the movie eurotrip..then a few weeks ago my friend came back from germany on a backpacking trip an shipped some absinthe here from there..a medium sized bottle with like a glowy green look to it..had 3 shots of it an passed the fk out..i have low tolerance an 3 shots of 70% juss got me...tastes better than 151 tho for sure

Take a teaspoon of sugar, dip it into the absynth, burn it, put it back into the shot, stir. Glory days. (still tastes like petrol, but heh,)

My friend in the Army brought two bottles back from when he was in Germany. There was this bottle and then another bottle that I can't remember the name of... neither made us hallucinate (thujone levels too low?)... anyway, good times. Felt like a different kind of drunk, though that could've been just me.

yes, I drink Absinthe
Most Commercial absinthe for sale is a standard 10 mg/L Thujone or 35 mg/L in absinthe labeld as "bitters". Certain ones are as high as 100 mg/l but are super expensive.
I personally splurged and spent over $200 for a bottle of King of Spirits Gold.
Taste like crap but one of the strongest out there.

Was it still the almost bitterish licorice taste, though? I actually enjoy the taste, at least in the beginning. I think it gets harder to drink after awhile (though it's not really meant to be drank a bottle at a time).

Absinthe making you hallucinate is an urban legend. The levels (even in the strongest absinthe) of psychoactive chemicals in it are so low they are completely negligible

My one local bar has it. That is my "night cap" drink usually for the evening. I don't know exactly what kind it is. However the bartender knows his stuff and he says it's the "legal kind" sold here in the U.S. and for bars. Something to do with the wormwood I guess. It's 105 proof and goes for about $6 a shot.
They are the ONLY place in my local area to carry it. This is a higher class pub and pool hall. I've asked for it at other bars and I've been told "it's too expensive to get" or "the boss doesn't want anything higher than 80 or 90 proof so customers don't get more out of hand".

Most absinthe taste kind of like Jager, but the especially strong ones taste much worse.

I wouldn't say its completely false, but definately overdone. 10 mg/l Absinthe is more of a normal drink and the wormwood content in that is more for novelty and history, but take 2 shots of the 100 mg/l ones and I garrantee you will definately feel a little more loopy than you would on normal alcohol.

ive went through about 4 bottles of absinthe and it dosent really do anything besides get you drunk...it tastes good like licorice though. i doubt the 100 versions do anything either. maybee one day i'll make my own strong ass ****

....well, 10x the amount of wormowood of what you are getting...
Its hard to judge the effectiveness of anything with a 10% dose.
