I stopped reading this article after reading that she did TWO HOURS of cardio everyday. That's insane, and promotes unhealthy amounts of cardio.
-
I'm wondering how she looks now. I give props for her being so dedicated for that long. I know after competitions that your body craves carbs. So did the weight stay off, or did she balloon up a little afterwards. I also agree that this is not healthy. Many people in the fitness industry say that they feel good being healthy, but being healthy doesn't equate to being the hardest time in your life because of your diet. That's just me though. Holla!

My Reply
Hi there,
This is Shara. Actually, I look better now than I ever did - check out new pics at my website www.sharavigeant.com . Yes, after my first competition I blew up a bit. LIve and learn, forsure. And yes, 2 hours of cardio is extreme, but bodybuilding is a little more extreme than most sports. The cardio, I would like to mention, is not high intensity - it is easy!
My next competition is 2006, so stay tuned!

Thank goodness
I'm so glad that Shara justified the cardio! I am currently battling trial and error between calorie cutting and exercise. I don't have that much energy to do such high intensity for that long. But, hey good for her. It's extremely rewarding and pushes you more once you start to see your body change everyday.

Props to Shara, not everyone has that kind of determination
I am really happy for her, as she continues to improve her physique and is now actually helping others to get there, I say nothing is "too extreme" if it works for you then good, other people might get results by doing 30 mintues of cardio, maybe an hour, but she said her body was stubborn and she did what she had to do, I say, as long as you know its working for you then why worry about it, in the end RESULTS are what really matter.

I have been following her remarkable transformation for over 2 years. Extremely dedicated and she looks better than ever. Congratulations.

Fantastic
She made a wonderful transformation and please, no one be offended when I say your/her body is owesome and your/her face is absolutely beautiful!!

arms are too muscular
I think most body building women look very unhealthy through the face and they begin to get a "hard" look about them.

Something a little "off" with bodybuilding comp photos?
There is no doubt that she looks GREAT and the photographs of her are BEAUTIFUL and are real. However, ONLY in the bodybuilding photos, why does it look like someone cut and paste her head on all the photos? At first I thought a huge make-up and body mismatch, but there is definitely some bad photoshop work on the last one of the first set. Just curious why, when her body is SO in shape and SO REALLY fit, would those photos be in there? Is it just me or am I right? Check out the photo below to see what I mean:

CONGRATS to Shara in any case--she looks AMAZING!

she looks great!
I have always been interested in women's bodybuilding and admired their dedication to the sport. I always wanted to be fit and lean, so I joined the gym unfortunately just when I was starting to see some results I became bored and quit a few months later. I just didn't have the self discipline or motivation to continue. I joined the gym again about a year ago and now I have become a bit of a gym junkie, training from 3-5 days a week. I know that I am in better shape now than I have ever been and I have alot more energy because of it. I know how hard it is to train and I admire Shara for sticking with it. I look at her web site every now and then for updates on her success and to see her new pictures. I went to school with her and I think that she looks fantastic! I admire her hard work!

Good Job !
I am an Ironworker that just turned 50 Years old Christmas Day 2006. I cut out beer for one year, and ate veggies and monster salads till the other co-workers called me a rabbit. Everyday at 4:45 am I was on an eliptical machine, and after work on weights(dumbells).
My moment of glory was when I outclimbed a 25 year old apprentice, and hearing him say that I was in awsome shape for an "old man".
The mind becomes fanatical, but that's what has to be done to achieve a goal. The worst enemy is the TV that tells you that it's ok to over-indulge. (Do you think that if I drank that much beer that my stomach would look like those beer commercial guys? - advertisers are lying to me every day)
I love what you've done, because I have an idea of the sacrifice you've made to get where you're at.
Thank You for your spirit and your passion...!

I wonder if she used foundation on her face in the bodybuilding photos. I've heard of this reflecting a surprising amount of light, making your body look more tanned than your face. No doubt that she tanned her body for the competition, so I wonder if this exaggerates the effect of the makeup?
I'm seriously impressed by the dedication required to achieve that transformation in such a short space of time. It must have been very hard.
