Good nuts for bulking besides peanuts?

Hey guys, I hear nuts are an excellent item for bulking, what are some good ones that aren't peanuts? I was thinking of getting some pistachio's since I'm pretty fond of those, are they clean enough for bulking? I have a couple meals in the day that are just bagels (yes, I know they aren't clean) and I was thinking of subbing in an apple and some pistachios in there, that good enough?

Pistachios are good since you said you like them. They are high in fiber, vitamin E, and low in sat. fats. Almonds and walnuts are also good. Also, good idea getting rid of the bagel as meals (probably has a pretty bad ingredients list) You may also want to look into Wasa oat crackers and use them as a meal with tuna or chicken on top.

As someone already mentioned, you should probably get rid of the bagels. Or, at the very least, include some protein regardless of whether or not you decide to eat bagels or nuts. Nearly all nuts are good as long as they're not/dry roasted and don't have salt or crappy flavorings added. Like a lot of people here, I'm partial to almonds.

Err...you can unequivocally say that trans fat is the worst type of fat, but declaring one of the other types the best is a bit odd given that you need all of them. Most of your fats should come from poly- and monounsaturated sources, but even saturated fat is beneficial in moderation.

Any nut is good for bulking, they're all high-calorie, but almonds and walnuts are the best nutritionally.

Agreed, I wasn't saying that you should ditch all other fats and eat only Mono fats. if I did I would have said "eat only olives and Macadamia nuts for your fat cources"... Heck look at my sig, I HIGHLY indorse eating FULL eggs, and that has what 1.5 sat fat each egg as is.

All fats should be put into your diet excluding trans fats, but mono is the most benign of the fats in that it doesn't effect your cholesterol or hormone levels, like some Poly fats do.

so if I was misunderstood by anybody. Make sure you get all types (excluding trans fats) of fats in your daily caloric intake.

i've always been a fan of sunflower seeds. I keep a jar of kernels by my bed, so when i wake up in the middle of the night (hungry) i just have a few hand fulls and a swig or 2 from the nalgene and i'm good. they don't get much attention though. i hear walnuts are good. but i know almonds and sunflower seeds are a staple for me eating throughout a whole day.

About an oz, depending on your caloric goals. An oz of almonds is about 22 whole kernels.

i shop alot at trader joe's now and I have been getting roasted unsalted peanuts and almonds... i usually mix 15 to 20 grams of each and have it at work... i am gonna get walnuts and macadamia's too and mix those as well.... its a great source for getting more good fats in my diet... in fact nuts and nut oils make up something like 80 or 90% of the fats in my diet. Along with flaxseeds and almond butter 30% fat is attainable for me to go with 30% carbs and 40% protein...
