how to prevent a stall

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello,
This is my first post and i would like to say i LOVE this site. Very helpful people with beautiful bodies everywere.

I have 30lbs or so to loose. I am starting clean eating today and watching my calorie intake. How do i prevent a stall in my weight loss efforts?

Thanks,

Get sufficient calories with nutrient dense foods and proper macros as well as post workout nutrition. Drop too low in cals and your metabolism will take a hit.

You'll have to change up your routine when you hit the stall. Either change your diet, change your exercise regimen, or both.

You must make sure that you eat enough.

Under-eating will ultimatly lead to a stall/plateu.

Some people like to use the zig-zag tecnique to avoid it from happening. That is where u eat more on your workout days and less on your resting days I believe.

If you do plateu the worst thing you can do is cut your calories even more.
Stick around, you will do fine

when I hit a wall, I usually cycle my carb intake....

2 days low carb, following day high carb....repeat until you break it....

btw; when I say low carb day, I dont mean "no carbs"...

good luck

yeah definitely dont drop your calories too low. i made that mistake and kept dropping it on my plateau for months, almost a yr until i went from 1400->700 calories daily, with the same working out schedule and my body didnt change a damn bit!!!except more tired! i upped them to 2000 for 2 weeks dropped them to 1400-1600 for 1 week now and ive lost almost all the fat from my 2 weeks of bulking already (nothing extra hardly noticable nemore) so i guess i was underestimating how much food my metabolism can handle.

lift hard!!

THanks for the advice i will definelty mix it up when i hit a stall. I am thinking the zig zag / carb cycle option will be the best.

I keep doing this error all the time: not eating enough.

Everytime I think: uh, it should work... but no, it doesn't... :\

How do you prevent a stall?

You don't, it just happens. I have been stalled at the same weight for as long as 2-3 weeks at a time before. Whatever happens though, you don't give up. Like others suggested you might have to switch up your routine, or macros, and sometimes, it just takes time (I know, that sucks).
