Lowdown5 and MaxOT
Been away for a while, post most of the time on www.animalpak.com, great people there, very helpful. I have been talking here to dpd555 and daYDreAmErX about MaxOT and decided ti give it a try and also keep a log here as well. I start tomorrow morning 10/15/2007 with a goal of dropping bodyfat and hopefully maintaining lean mass. I am shooting for being 245 pounds at the 2008 Arnold Classic, down from 288 today. The training for me is the easy part, hell I don't even mind cardio. It is the diet that gives me fits but I have to conquer that demon. I will post my workouts as often as possible. Any advice will be helpful and those of you that already know me feel free to stop by and give me hell.
Thanks, talk to ya soon!

Bent Over Rows 225x3, 205x4, could not get into the groove on these

Welcome John!
I keep hearing people talking about the mental aspect of MaxOT, and being in the right mindset for maximize gains. I would love to hear more from that angle, if you are ever so inclined
Good luck, I hope it works well for you!

None listed for this session in the manual. Thought that was kind of odd myself.

For me and the thing that appealed to me is that the sessions are short, 45 minutes or less and you can truly focus on the task at hand by keeping reps low (4-6) and work sets in the 2-3 range. Long workouts tend to lead to the mind wandering. With MaxOT the focus is on getting the job done quickly and effectively. No wasted time or effort.
Thanks, and I will keep you posted on how it goes.

Well I'm doing sumo deadlifts for weeks 1-4 but I'm switching to weighted hypers for weeks 5-8. Never stopped deadlifting for more than two weeks, I guess it'll give my lower back/hips a break.

And that is a needed break sometimes. You will probably come back stronger than ever after the break.

OK, i have been a bit MIA, sorry. I post at AnimalPak.com and between the two boards, work, family and life my time is spread kinda thin. My MaxOT experiment is over, killed my joints. Starting tomorrow I am going back to an intense, 4 day a week training schedule using higher reps in the 12-6 range as opposed to 4-6 reps. This style of training is a lot easier on this old mans joints. I will try to post more often and appreciate all of you who have my back.

Hate to see this. I did MaxOT last winter for a few months. Man did I get bigger and stronger, but my joints finally gave out. Everything from my shoulders to my thumb hurt. But, I did keep up with some of my bigger, younger buddies for awhile...kinda like the Toby Keith song LOL.
Should be a good routine for the younger crowd.

I agree, it just isn't for those of us who have those kind of pains anyway. My elbows, shoulders and wrist hurt all the time doing it, so we just have to train smart and avoid making it worse.
