    lat pulldown variations

What would be the difference in standing lat pulldown and seated lat pulldowns if you did them both very strict. I know that you could use more weight standing if you cheated through the movement.

No you'd be limited to your own body weight if you were standing coz theyd be nothing holding you down.

not really. because when your cross your bodyweight on pull downs with nothing to hold you down, you will end up doing pull ups not pull downs.

or some kind of weird half pulldown/half pullup thing that leaves you dangling from the bar looking like a circus monkey.
If what I see does not amaze me, I am not looking hard enough.

ok im not sure if im understanding you right but think about this, take a powerlifter or olympic lifter at a lighter weight class say 120's or something, are you saying that they couldnt do a standing lat pulldown with more than 120 pounds

simple physics bro. if you weigh 200, put 220 on the pull down bar and try to get seated without someone pushing you down. its not a matter of strength its a matter of gravity.

nobody in the world, no matter how strong he is, can do a standing lat pulldown of more mass than he weighs. If he weighs 150 pounds, it doesn't matter if he can pulldown 800 pounds with a brace holding his legs down. He will yank on the bar and the force he pulls with will pull his body up towards the handle instead of pulling the bar down.

Think of it this way: it takes 150 pounds to lift his body off the ground, and it takes 800 pounds to pull the handle down to move the weight. When he pulls, which will happen first, will his body shoot up or will the cable move?

Absolutely. It's why the lat pulldown and many other machines have seatbelts or leg braces.
Bodybuilding is 60% training and 50% diet. Yes that adds up to 110%, because that's what you should be giving it. Change the inside, and the physique will follow.
