    Late night hunger!

    I have been eating several small meals throughout the day. I do eat protein powder as well as fish and turkey and other protein sources. I also eat veggies and fruit and healthy carbs..I don't really limit myself to anything I just try to eat as healthy as I can because I am not trying to lose weight. I am trying to gain muscle. I do fine all day and then at night I feel like I'm starving. I usually have my last shake around 8-8:30 hoping it will tide me over but lately it doesn't and I end up snacking later on which I know is not good. Tonight even the shake didn't fill me up so I also ate 1/4 cup of oatmeal and a spoonful of natural peanut butter and I know later I will get hungry again. I am not sure what to do. I workout twice a day doing weights and cardio separately..I have no clue why I keep getting so hungry.

    If you have suggestions let me know!

    Hey there Kristen!how are you,hungry??..lol!..I know exactly what you are talking about!my problem is that im always hungry!..I do try at night to drink some water,eat some fruit or veggies, rather than anything really calorie dense..cut up some carrot sticks and then when you get the munchies you have something healthy to nibble on...hope i could help you a little..good luck...

    I am the same way. It feels like if I am at home, I am always hungry. I bought some fresh veggies and cut them up that way they are ready to go and I wont be tempted to eat all of those bad foods.

    Change your shakes for whole foods, shakes will not fill you up the way whole foods will. Id save shakes for post workout (and/or pre workout) and stick to tuna, cottage cheese, chicken etc for protein sources other times.

    sounds like you have a fast metabolism! if you're trying to bulk there's no harm in having another meal. just make sure it's clean and not too dense in carbs (cottage cheese is great ). who says it's 'not good' to have food before bed? you're going through eight hours with no food on board.

    If you are going to have a shake, add something to it. Preferably a source of healthy fats like peanut butter (natural), almonds, flaxseed oil etc.. you shouldn't drink a shake by it's own, it's digested too quickly and doesn't fill you up. My perfect night meal is cottage cheese and natural peanut butter.

    Protein and good fats, low carb
