    getting ripped without cardio

I was wondering If you could get ripped with out cardio.
I tried getting ripped before with cardio and I lost a lot of size
and strength. But one time I just cut out fats and sugars,
and startchy foods and just picked up the intensity of my
workout and started losing bodyfat like crazy I lost
2 inches off my waist with no cardio! But I started eating
sugars and my waist went up almost an inch. I cut my
calories down some and cut down my carbs and in just
a few days my stomach went with no cardio. My question
is can you get ripped with out cardio by just dieting and
increasing your weight training intensity. I didn't even
cut my calories the first time just cut out sugars, fats, and
starches and lost no size. With cardio my arms went down
over 2 inches and people kept telling how bad I shrunk.
Is it possible with out cardio?

it is possible to get ripped without cardio, but it will take way more work than it's worth. Your diet would have to be strict as hell. I think you're better off just re-evaluating your cardio sessions. Here are some good rules from cardio I picked up from Skip LaCour's site:

-keep the cardio sessions short but very intense. no longer than 20 minutes but going balls to the wall
-do cardion completely separate from lifting weights (i.e. lift in the morning, do cardio at night)
-supplement your cardio sessions just like you would a weight training session

If done correctly, you can easily do cardio without losing muscle. It's those long pointless (unless you're an endurance athlete) cardio sessions without supplementation that eat up the muscle.

As said before, it would be hard. Lost size? Try supplementing Glutamine. Keeping your cardio lite, and CLA and flax will help.
It's all about getting your BF as low as possible. Without cardio, it would take longer.

short intense cardio? 97LT where you at? I've always read EVERYWHERE that 30-40mins is best at about 65% of ur max heartrate

you don't do cardio at night. i've read that you lose up to 300% more fat in the morning on an empty stomach, than at any other time during the day

you're right - cardio in the morning on an empty stomach will burn 300% more fat, and probably 600% more muscle!! the calories you burn doing cardio aren't as important as the boost in metabolism it gives you - that's why short intense well supplemented cardio sessions burn fat without losing muscle.

did you check how recent the literature on those articles you read EVERYWHERE is? make sure the info that your reading isn't being cited from a study done in 1984..........

PLEASE READ THE ARTICLES BY ERIC S THAT I LISTED BEFORE. learn them well. if you're tryin to burn fat and keep muscle that's the way to go. the man knows his stuff and has the science to prove it.

I was just recently in Miami FLA visiting and i ran into a bodybuilder in a supplement store, he introduced me to a training method that he absolute swears by called the super slow training method. Im sure u have probobly heard about it. But he "claims" that this way of training really packs on the muscle which inturn will crank your metabolism through the roof and will then melt unwanted bodyfat off.

I asked him about doing cardio....then i noticed that he was wearing a t-shirt that said "cardio....just say NO!" He said that cardio will just rape u off building quality muscle. He looks to be about 35 years old and about 5-7% bf....and claims he hasnt touched cardio in years.

Now I dont entirely agree with this But the only way you will find out for sure is if u try it yourself. IF you have a flawless diet and you train very hard it can definetly be possible....u just gotta find out for yourself.

    good luck!

    cheers

i completely agree with you Blind - like i said before, i think that it's possible, it just takes more work than it's worth. i'd rather cheat with my diet now and then and do a few short cardio sessions instead of eating completely clean and never doing cardio. besides, there are many more girls (who i can take out to a dinner and eat whatever i want with) in the cardio room at my gym than in the free weights area

I think glutamine should be a given whether cutting, doing lot of cardio, or just rubbin one out on the couch. er, uh, maybe not the last one, but if you're doing any type of strength training or conditioning glutamine is a great supplement and should be a staple in any athlete's supplementation program.

sorry for the sick humor. it's 5am and i'm just now getting off work. delirious would be an understatment........

    hey 97LT1

i would to run you by my supps while cutting, i know your an expert when it comes to this...

    protein shake
    glutamine
animal pak(yellowjacket said it was still good to take it while cutting)
    flaxseed oil
    xenadrine rfa-1

i know with glutamine ill be able to contain my muscle and strength..but will i go down in my weights...i will continue the same program, but as for gaining on lets say my bench, or will it plateau..

It may or may not. But i wouldn't worry about that too much since you are cutting.

Can you handle both Xenadrine and Animal Cuts? That's realy gonna knock you on your butt. Are you used to stimulants like that?

agreed, isn't it rather redundant to take both animal cuts and xenadrine?

my bad..not animal cuts, animal pak..but i decided not to take it because it would get very costly...

tomorrow is the big day..4 long months of cardio and low low carbs...goodness...how much glutamine is sufficient? last time i was cutting i was taking 10g a day, should i up to 15g or even 20??

    Animal pak=same thing.

Chromimum has to be taken in large amounts to be of any use.

Cool. I still use Isopure, but not as my main protein source. I use a simple whey for that. You are on your way buddy.
