    How long does it take for u to start losing muscle mass

    I was wondering how long if u stop working out does it take for u to start losing muscle (while ur eating a steady diet)

    yer 2 weeks is the noticable limit for gaining and losing, but wile iv been cutting i havnt noticed a loss in muscle size and iv increased my strength, and i have hardly been workoing out at all, this mite have summin to do with newbie gains or wotever tho

    I think the generally accepted norm is that atrophy begins after 2-3 weeks of no use.

    after the initial 2 weeks so to speak and atrophy takes place how rapidly do you begin to lose it?

    the body is a very efficient machine, as soon as it realizes that it is carrying too much weight (as in unneccessary muscle mass) it will decrease to the 'optimum' lvl, not too much, not too little, the rate depends how physical demanding your daily life is

    does 2-3 weeks only apply to young people or for adults also? i heard adults dont lose muscle they just grow fat over the muscle, while people who are still growing actually lose muscle.

    I stopped working out for half a year before and quite frankly, i didn't notice too much of a loss in muscle mass in 2 weeks. Its more like 4-6 weeks. The muscle to lose the most size and also the fastest and most noticeable were the lats. All in all, i noticed i lost a lot of muscle mass after 3-4 months.

    Anything above that can lead to atrophy quite rapidly though!!!!
