i'm new to this forum, and new to weight training. i have no one to help me through this, and i can't afford a gym membership. that leaves, internet, and books.
but no one seems to agree.
i read that to get leaner, and build muscle you need to consume less calories than you burn. ok... makes sense. but then i got as formula to gauge it, and they said multiply your body weight by ten, and subtract 500.
i'm 165. so that means i only ingest 1150 calories a day? that seems pretty low, and possibly damaging. i mean, i'm all for getting quicker results with supplements, and rigorous exercise, and i'm not afraid of being hungry. but i'm not doing this to hurt myself. any thoughts? is this too low, or am i just paranoid?
