Being a bodybuilder does not make a person tougher than a non bodybuilder
A small guy can beat a bodybuilder if he is a better fighter. Why do people assume that a bodybuilder has the ability to beat anyone and everyone up?
A 150 pound guy could be capable of holding his own against a 250 pound guy.
Pitbulls are not usually the biggest dogs on the block, but certainly, they are the toughest.

this is partially true, i do agree with you in some points but a 250 guy has a mere advantage of 100 lbs over a 150 lb guy so i mean 9/10 if you let the 250 lb guy get a hold you, you are screwed

Lets not compare apples to oranges, if both had equal fighting skills the stronger and bigger man will dominate without question.
Unskilled average Joe vs. Unskilled average bodybuilder = the bodybuilder will break Joe's **** in half

The small guy will be quick and evasive. The small guy should have better endurance also.
My point is...Bigger muscles does not the better fighter make. Necessarily.

More endurance? Yep, watching TV and playing on the computer really builds endurance compared to sets of 20 on squats, and an hour of cardio...

Thats absolute bull**** logic. Being a bigger and stronger guy doesn't mean you're automatically slower and have less endurance. I feel like a 10 year old kid for even participating in this discussion

Bruce Lee was small, was he a couch potato?
Yep, doing squats makes you tough mate. Try 21 reps, you'll become that much more tougher.

The Pitbull was not bred to be a big dog because he wouldn't have the endurance if he was a monster. Not many large dogs can out endure a pit.

If we had to generalize...
Put it this way. You pull 10 guys out of the gym, and 10 guys out of your local supermarket to scrap it out. My money would be on the guys from the gym.

Big Guy = 350lbs bench press
little guy = 125 bench press
Big Guy = 3 times the power in this pushing movement = also 3 times the power in a punching movement = 3 times more knocked the f*ck out.

i agree with the fact that being a body builder just makes you bigger and stonger, but doesnt make you faster, have more endurance, toughness, fighting ability, agility, techinique then the average person. Of course a bodybuilder would beat up a none bodybuilder if they have the same fighting ability but a trained fighter would make quick work of a bodybuilder. Trust me i know.

Bodybuilders can be quick
What are you talking about
They are definitely fast (strong legs, some are sprinter track stars)
But they can be agile, too

Resistance training does make your faster in a fight situation, because you have more type 2 muscle fibre strength. Not every bodybuilder has the disadvantage a 300lb+ Ronnie has
Practically every bodybuilder incorporates cardio into their routine at some time, that relates to more endurance than an average sedentary person.
Toughness? you haul iron for a few years busting your balls for each of the next 5lbs and tell me you're not as tough as Mr Couch Potatoe eating those nachos in front of Oprah
What does agility and technique have to do with 2 unskilled fighters? Whats the couch potatoe going to do - breakdance the bodybuilder into submission? One right hook would send him back to the couch
I wouldn't trust you to pack my groceries after reading that

First of all a bench press does not make a punch stronger. In fact it has little to nothing to do with punch power. The power from a punch doesn't come from those muscles, the power comes from the lower body.
Second, all things being equal, the bigger guy should win. In the real world, though all that matters is who YOU are, if you don't have the heart of a fighter, no amount of size or strength is going to help you, you are going to get your ass kicked by someone who has the heart.
You throw in someone with real fight training and that is a whole other story, because no matter how big or strong you are you aren't going to be a trained fighter.

You also forget that punch power is only part of a fight, and when everything is taken into consideration, punch power is very small part of a fight.
The more subtle aspects are much more important. In punching for example, accuracy, distance, timing....all those things (and more) are more important than just hitting hard.
Throw in things like grappling, takedowns, take down defense, kicking...
....That and, as I said before, benching has nothing to do with punching.

Yes if your a trained figthter you will rip a 250lb bodybuilder apart.. but a monster bodybuilder vs an average joe in a streetfight then size makes all the diference and joe average will be sent packin in a few seconds

Listen, i used to bodybuild full time. Then when i started mixed martial arts training, i could see that my muscles didnt help me at all. The only thing I was good at was doing push ups and sit ups. Nothing else. I could not take a punch, could not throw a punch, could not run, could not control my body on the ground, could not move like a fighter. Nothing. I had no functional strength and no endurance. Dont say that its because I never trained in fighting before because there were people coming in who had no muscle but could still kick ass because they were just good athletes. I had kids who were 30 pounds lighter and a foot shorter throwing me around like nothing. Now that i have 2 years experience, its always fun to see some 250 pound bodybuilder guy come in and think he owns the place, only to be thrown around like a rag doll by a wreslter half his size. What you said above is what a bodybuilder would say. Lifting weights is very good for cross training when your an athlete, but if you do nothing but lift weights dont go around thinking you can take anyone because you will be suprised how easily those muscles can be used against you.

Your saying lifting weights makes you tough? I always hear bodybuilders whine about squats and how tough they are! Some of the workouts ive been through make 20 rep squats look like a walk in the park. Try wrestling for 20 minutes, getting up, doing 100 pushups, squats, sit ups, 20 chin ups. Putting on your gloves and then sparring for another 15 minutes then taking off your gloves and back to wrestling. Repat this 3 times. And then instuction starts. The MMA workouts at my gym are barbaric, 2 hours of full intensity training produces very tough fighters. There is a japanese all you can eat restuarant near my gym, so my trainer always makes us go eat there after a workout because we burn like 3000 calories.

Who is talking about a BBEr versus a MMA fighter? A BB is going to be tougher than the average person (couch potato) because of the training with weights.
