Should you always drop all the way down into a front squat when doing cleans? I can get the weight up with just a slight squat, but I'm pretty sure that this is the wrong form. I just want to confirm with some more experienced lifters, and see if I should change my form.

Yup doing it with minimal leg bend is a power clean, you can't do as much weight due to the fact that you have to pull the bar higher but, the fact that you have to pull it higher means it requires more power so it will help you to develop more power. I find its quite good to do both variations. The other advantage of the power clean is that its easier to learn/do than the clean in my opinion.

Less food means less weight. More weight on bar means get stronger. Guy farts while squatting means great laughter. -Dan John-
