Smile Help - Many food allergies - Need diet help

Hi there,

I'm back to bb.com forums after quite a hiatus. I had been having lots of medical issues, had surgery, etc, etc. I found out what was causing alot of my med stuff was previously undiagnosed food allergies. Previous to being tested I was consuming egg whites every morning and 2-3 whey shakes per day + 2 other meals.

Well, come to find out, I am highly allergic to Egg yolks/whites and Dairy...not just milk but Whey, Casein, yogurt, cheeses, cottage cheese, cow and goat's milk. I also have allergies to plenty of other things it turns out but the protein limitation is really giving me issues.

I have looked at some rice protein powders but they have an amount of carbs that I'd like to avoid. I'm also having a hard time finding anything without sugar in it (I cannot have Splenda either).

I am trying to revamp my diet without having to eat chicken/turkey/tuna for all 5-6 meals per day. I am looking for some guidance on working up a meal plan which would include 5-6 meals per day, carb rotation and be VERY clean.

All suggestions welcome, I'm open to all opinions and advice and would be very appreciative of any info.

I have a lot food intolerances myself and have been struggling with keeping calories up and getting enough protein. No eggs or milk (whey, casein, etc) for me either. I have been looking at this http://www.nowfoods.com/?action=item...&item_id=14706. I don't see carbs listed though. And I need to keep my carbs down.

You have my sympathy. If I have to eat more steak/wild salmon/chicken I think I'll gag.

Have you thought of non-standard meats like venison, elk, bison, beefalo, game birds?

I visited Germany on business a couple years ago. They had me eating all sorts of weird crap because of mad-cow contamination in the beef herds. I've eaten:

- Emu
- Wild Boar
- Kangaroo

I didn't like the Emu, it was very fatty. The Wild Boar and Kangaroo was alright!

Even if you eat something like this once every couple of weeks, having a treat might help break up the monotony.

I feel your pain. Have you tried a hydrolyzed protein? Hydrolysates are predigested, partially hydrolyzed whey proteins which consequently are more easily absorbed, but their cost is generally higher. Whey protein hydrolysate also tends to taste quite different than other forms of whey protein, usually in a way that many find undesirable but can be masked when used in beverages. Sometimes it works for folks who are sensitive to even whey protein isolate. What about soy protein? Nuts and legumes are other protein sources to consider.
