Smile Pre-workout nutrition?

Hey everyone,

Question for you. What do you consume pre-workout?

I workout first thing in the morning. Weights followed by cardio most days. I know I need *something* before training, but I cannot get up any earlier to have a full meal beforehand (I am already getting up at 5am).

Any suggestions? Thanks

I do cardio first thing on an empty stomach, i hear this is more likely to burn fat, then i drink a big ole protein shake right before lifting. Works well on the days i go to the gym first thing. But i always take in atleast 20g protein prior to workin out.

I, personally, believe cardio (or working out in general) on an empty stomach to be unhealthy, but the opinions vary greatly.

Anyway, I also work out in the morning. At night I put frozen strawberries and blueberries, oats, flax seeds, and some water into a blender. The berries are thawed by morning and the oats and seeds are quelled (which some ppl believe adds health benefits to oats.) I add protein powder, milk (cows or soy), Udo's flax seed oil, hemp hearts and wheat germ. Some days I only let the berries thaw and don't add oats till in the morning because I like the texture of unquelled oats, too.

And that's my yummi morning shake.

You can always have a shake...I get up a little earlier (4:15AM) to make sure I'm fueled for my workout
