How many days are you sore after doing heavy deadlifts?

I deadlifted 500 lbs last friday, which is pretty close to a max attempt for me and I still have some muscle soarness today yet. Not a whole lot but some. I was just wondering if other people also get sore for this long after heavy deadlifting.

    Thanx

I generally find that 1RM's don't cause as much DOMS (muscle soreness) as repping lighter weights. DOMS usually sets in 24-48 hours after and lasts me anywhere from 24-72 hours.

Yeah i find that 1 rep stuff doesn't cause me much soreness, its usually if i'm doing sets of 5 or 6 that i feel it the next day.

I am sore for 3 days, but thats after a big workout. If I just warmup and max I don't really get sore unless I strain a muscle.

I'm usually sore for about 2 days after lifting. After a meet sometimes I'm sore for nearly a week. Several 1RM attempts on the different lifts hits me harder than if I do sets of 3-5 reps.

I usually start with 5 reps and work my way down to 1 as I increase the weight.

    Friday's Workout

    Warmup 135 lbs x 8 reps
    Warmup 225 lbs x 8 reps
    315 lbs x 5 reps
    405 lbs x 3 reps
    465 lbs x 2 reps
    500 lbs x 1 rep

Maybe I'll start with 3 reps next time instead of 5 and see if that makes any difference or not.

Yes, I get very sore after max effort deadlift. More than any other exercise.
this is why many powerlifters only max on deadlift once every one or two weeks.

I haven't actually maxed yet, but I do 8 sets of 3 and I'm rarely very sore (this goes for any exercise). Maybe a little bit, but never very bad. I'm sure it has to do with the type of muscle fibers that low rep training with 80-90% 1RM (estimated for me since I haven't maxed) hits, because when I do higher reps with less weight I'm always very sore.

1 rep max for deadlift doesn't really make me sore. But like others said, 4-6 reps will beat the crap out of me for a few days.

Hevy deads in the 4-6 range normally causes soreness that lasts about 2-3 days. (Not DOMS, soreness sets in straight after deads, can be helped by stretching after sets)

If that 12 seconds goes up into the 15 second range, you are overtraining.
