I deadlifted 500 lbs last friday, which is pretty close to a max attempt for me and I still have some muscle soarness today yet. Not a whole lot but some. I was just wondering if other people also get sore for this long after heavy deadlifting.
Thanx

I generally find that 1RM's don't cause as much DOMS (muscle soreness) as repping lighter weights. DOMS usually sets in 24-48 hours after and lasts me anywhere from 24-72 hours.

I usually start with 5 reps and work my way down to 1 as I increase the weight.
Friday's Workout
Warmup 135 lbs x 8 reps
Warmup 225 lbs x 8 reps
315 lbs x 5 reps
405 lbs x 3 reps
465 lbs x 2 reps
500 lbs x 1 rep
Maybe I'll start with 3 reps next time instead of 5 and see if that makes any difference or not.Weight: 186 lbs

Bench: 330 lbs
Deadlift: 500 lbs
Squat: 390 lbs **NEW**

I haven't actually maxed yet, but I do 8 sets of 3 and I'm rarely very sore (this goes for any exercise). Maybe a little bit, but never very bad. I'm sure it has to do with the type of muscle fibers that low rep training with 80-90% 1RM (estimated for me since I haven't maxed) hits, because when I do higher reps with less weight I'm always very sore.
