Bsd Bsd...
I have been on here for a little while now and I must say... YOU ALL ROCK!!!! I have just completed after 3 weeks, a program that I got off of here. Bench, Squat, Deadlift! I do this 3 times a week. 3 sets x 10 to 12 reps. Even my wife noticed that I was "looking better". I can be called one of the people that over think things. Make them more complicated than they really are. Finally, a simple regime I can follow and not screw up by over analyzing it. I must say however that today my lower back is a little sore from the deadlifts last night but this will pass. And thank you ChickenTuna for your diet guide i saw on here that you eat. I have been keeping a steady 177 pounds and I am 5'7". I was 200 pounds a few months ago. I will be constantly keeping up on here with the great advice I see on here. Thanks All!!

You are probably like me and everything is either all or nothing. It took me a while to realize that any exercise is better than nothing. I used to think if everything was not at optimal condition then I shouldn't work out. Good job on your progress and hope to see you around here for a long time.

Thanks Far...
I plan on being here for quite some time. I have decided that this is how I will spend the rest of my life. As you probably know from my other previous posts, I was a TotalGym advocate. But, since I have dusted off the weights and bought myself a new weight bench and other equipment, I have made gains that I have not seen with the TG. It will be free weights from now on. You just don't get the workout like you get from free weights. Now to see what I can do by the time beach season comes around next year!

Yeah, I started with a friends bowflex and after doing free weights for a while I could not find an exercise on the bowflex that seemed worth while, other than lat pull downs.

Thunderchild,
First - welcome to the club..
Second - Simple is best. If you read IslandTroll's journal, you'll see that the workout's are fairly straightforward. Good, compound moves - nothing too fancy, underscored by strong dietary commitment.
You've made great progress, and that's in large part to your program's simplicity and your consistency. Good luck, and keep it up!

Thanks all. As I am now 47 years young, I know I must keep working out. I was very much into healthy living and eating when was in college many years ago. But like everyhting, life got in the way. Stopped working out and my eating was not of the best food around. Now, I am back on the trail again and will stay on it forever. I will be a constant watcher to learn more from the knowledgable people that write here.

Good for you man, but please don't let your age change your mental desire, give it 100% remember you only get back in return what you put in, half ass efforts give half ass results.
Check out some of the older folks in here Oldsup is one of the most inspirational people here. 47 is young and no reason to even mentioned it no matter what the "old farts" here tell you otherwise.
Welcome to the OV35, much success in all your endeavors!!

Don't be a constant watcher, just jump in with the rest of us, everyone learns from everyone else.

Thanks guy's!
Thanks guy's. I'll be here. Just ate my first bag of Tuna today. The pouch kind. Not as bad as I thought it would be. I will make my Turkey chilli this weekend. Home made with all the goodies to eat at once. Easy to make and stick with. I know it is clean eating because I made it!

Oh yeah, one piece of equipment I have is a pull up handle. I took a large screw hook and screwed it into the floor joist in the basement ceiling. I attached a short chain to it and then put on a narrow grip handle that you use for cable pulls. Wife did not mind that I did it so all was good. Talk about hard pullups!!!!
